Do you think Kelly was much worse then NORMAN??

Yes. If you would like to understand the nuances of playing in the halves, you could ask someone like forty or staggs (or ram, but he only likes white halves). But making ridiculous and ill informed statements that even the plodders amongst us can see are whacko just makes you seem silly.

True, but he's missed 14 tackles in the last 3 games, whilst his centre "partner" Willie Tonga has missed only 2 in his last 3 games.

And that has nothing to do with Edwards not playing vs Nth Qld and therefore Hopo 'cheating' too far on the inside to cover Sandow (against the rampaging Taumalolo)?

Did it look like Hopoate was too far infield to cover Sandow to you?

Did it look like Hopoate had too much trouble tackling his bloke when he was not covering the inside?

I think his mistake (in both the Tigers and Cowboys game) was that he got sucked too far infield to cover Sandow against a rampaging backrower. Edwards played limited minutes vs the Tigers, leaving Hopoate the bodyguard job. Hopoate defended poorly in both games by 'cheating' too far infield. But I don't expect to see a repeat performance.

And he has made 3 times as many tackles as Tonga the last 2 weeks, it is obvious the approach opposition teams will take in attacking us, and it will be hard to cover Sandow.

of COURSE third party sponsors have nothing to do with the clubs ;-)
they have no connection to any particular team or club ;-)
its just a total coincidence that the richest clubs have more sponsors than anyone else ;-)
and another total coincidence that they have the best players ;-)

Re: Hoppa. There is more to playing centres than running the ball the D side is most important.

True. Just about any merkin can attack at centre; in a one-on-one situation the attacker just needs a mismatch (e.g. strong merkin vs weak merkin or fast merkin vs slow merkin). This is why Ben Roberts can only 'play centre' when there is someone (e.g. Hayne) to defend at centre for him.

The point im making is we are paying them to give us more in return that's all.

Ok Dean Whare or Hoppa? Whare has by far outplayed him this year and would be n half the money.thats what im getting at.
And norman I thought was more dangerous running the ball that's all.He looks ok but nothing special to me.

Everyone is doing a job with Hayne-Peats and Tonga doing that little bit extra too get us those tries. Also Sandow. At the moment id say they are the most influential players in our team-Rest are just doing a job

Theoretically we shouldn't judge any merkin's value until the end of his contract. And technically we should probably know how much they're on too.

I believe it. He's exactly what we need, and he's off contract. Would want big money without being high profile enough to demand HUGE money.

He is just the right size, position and age. And has played 20+ games in each of the past two years and only missed one so far this year. We also know he's been to Corey Norman's place.

Only down side is he's a current Origin rep, so we'd lose him at Origin time.

Pou, he is class. I'd love to have him. Is he however better value than Sims? Don't we have enough backrowers? Aren't props what we need? I'd take them both to be honest. One thing is for sure Arthur will definitely be in the market for some forwards especially if we let go of Moimoi, Ben Smith and possibly release Allgood.

I think Norman is streets ahead of Kelly, he's been solid without being brilliant but some of his touched in the first few months have been class and have lead to some really classy tries...

He's a real footballer

Norman has played very well in 6 out of 8 games thus far this season. To me, it appears Norman is playing to a structure and not stepping outside of it. This is what BA is looking for in his spine and in all his players. Those players who can't stick to a structure are GONE.

Under these circumstances I say Norman has been exceptional - he is playing better than I thought he would/could. It is Norman that has freed up Jarryd Hayne to get back to consistently playing at his best since 2009 and Jarryd is sticking to a structured game plan as well. :)

If this is the worst Norman can offer going back to round 1, then I am a very happy Parra Eels Fan. :D

And throw in Sandow's consistency improving heaps thanks to Norman who brings a wonderful calming influence over our squad. While Kelly regularly showed how to keep losing composure on the NRL field, Norman has stayed calm and focused without hardly being flustered.

BA has provided a simple game plan for Hopoate and it is paying off dividends already. BA knows Hoppa has a way to go to get back to his 2011 fitness, particularly that extra meter of speed, hence, defense, deference, defense and being an excellent link MAN (or visa-versa) to the backrowers........ but look out when he does recapture his 2011 fitness and speed. Hoppa has been fantastic in defense and a wonderful calming influence over Sio and the rest of the squad. Can't ask for more, better than what we've been dishing up in the centers since 2009, B Smith, J Horro, Morgan, etc...... :?

From my perspective, what we are experiencing here is the early stages of a team learning to play for each other as a team, there is NO room for "ego trips in BA's squad. This alone will pay off huge dividends for us next season and onwards, as well as possibly later this season too.

With a good base to work with BA only needs to sprinkle a few new forwards and backs here and there (sooner rather than later ) as we move along the NRL path, and as a "team", we are premiership contenders for the next 5 to 7 seasons minimum.

Considering its only the very early stages I love the way BA has kept the game plan simple but provided some room to attack from anywhere on the field just to keep the boys happy in the job of being an Eel. Nothing like a player excited about coming to work every day. :)

Huge difference to the f**king awful and most boring restricted game plans and negative attitudes SK & RS brought with them which also undermined the players confidence.

Hindy111, you need to concentrate on your sex life and getting your mileage points up instead of trying to be the Parra "expert" because Poo is the "only" certified Parra "expert" on this Forum and he has a proven track record to show for it.
