The Eels are this weekend set to announce the signing of Cronulla rake Isaac De Gois for the remainder of the season, granted a release from the final few months of his contract at the Sharks to join the Eels.

De Gois, who has played eight games for Cronulla off the bench this season, is expected to link with the Eels next week and could be available as early as next Sunday's grudge match against arch rivals Canterbury at ANZ Stadium.

Luke Kelly and Joseph Paulo shared the dummy half duties against North Queensland, however neither player is accustomed to the role.

I think "Gowie" is David Gower, being talked up by his manager? Not Isaac de Gois long term.

I reckon the De Gois signing is pointless. No better than Matt Keating, in fact I reckon Keating is a slightly better hooker. I liked the plan Arthur had tonight, Kelly did fine and is easily as good as De Gois....but the rotation of hooker duties looked to work nicely as well.

I think the De Gois signing will give us the chance to blood Pritchard off the bench once he is fit again..

Play the token tandem hooking roll that has been used so much over the last 5-6 seasons.. De Gois to play the main minutes and do the donkey work with Pritchard coming on at the end of the halves to add a bit of attacking spark.

Why couldn't you blood Pritchard off the bench with Kelly at hooker? I just don't get the signing. I don't rate De Gois anyway. Kelly did well, and made 23 tackles with 0 misses so his defence is fine in the middle. He also offers a kicking game, which De Gois sucks at.

I can't remember an obvious miss. But even if he did, and he probably did, he offers as much as, or more than De Gois IMO. Especially given Kaysa will get a shot either starting or off the bench. I just don't understand the signing.

Kelly is our backup half and De Gois and Pritchard are fighting to be our starting hooker now that Peats is gone for the year.

Makes plenty of sense.

Exactly, Kelly is a make shift hooker at best, if we are serious about making a play for a finals spot this year we needed a specialised hooker. Whilst we do have Pritchard, he is quite injury prone as we have seen over the last two seasons, not to mention he is still somewhat of an unknown quality in first grade. De Gois is dependable and experienced, and as we all know we currently do lack experience in our side. I think he'll be a good addition to the side.

De Gois has been released by the side coming stone motherless last. Sorry, but I just don't rate him and tbh I never have. I do trust Brad Arthur, though, so we'll see. My point is simply that we have the same quality player already in Kelly and we may as well look to youth if we're going to sign Cronullas rejects IMO

I remember we once signed a dummy half, for one season, who could hardly get a run with the team running last at the time (Cronulla). I also remember that player was Kevin Kingston and the same year we made the Grand Final...

At the end of the day, we have very little, if nothing, to lose by signing De Gois.

I rated Isac De gois to be a star in Nrl.Injuries came at the wrong time.

He is an attacking style hooker.I would say a little more tricks in his book than Peats. Not as strong or tough but has a bit of craft and a decent dart from dummy half.
Of NRL standards. Is 29 so not over the hill. Will go a lot better than Kelly who ran for 0 mtrs ( may as well have MK for defense)

And T-Rex in meant 300k for the first two seasons-Yes 150k each ( but spent one of those in reserves)
