do we need him?

i saw him on NRL360 last night - he's still the same arrogant knob he's always been. He seemed to want to stay in newcastle as long as they want him when their new coach is sorted .... but he reckons he has other offers open to him .... I assumed that means he wants newy to pay him decent coin or get decent coin elsewhere (or maybe that is a bluff)

Not sure, but apparently our cap is stuffed and he could be a cheap option. Plus we are a bit light on experience in our pack next year. But his probably not worth the hassle.

Hypothetically, if I was a wealthy guy what is to stop me approaching Haynes manager while wearing my Parra jersey and say offering Hayne a part-time job in my local business with remuneration being a house in the area. I could choose to sack him from my company at any time (unfair dismissal laws being what they are) and perhaps hand him the deeds to the house in compensation... couldnt I?

He would have to declare it.

Ironically, the Storm would not have been declared cheaters if Waldron had structured the rort correctly.

It would seem that instead of paying players in brown paper bags, boats and cash in relatives accounts they could have simply covertly arranged for 3rd party sponsors not aligned with the club to pay players squillions in supplementary 3rd party payments.

It would seem this is what clubs do no anyway.

"I'm happy when I see Parramatta winning because I know I did the right thing there and I know I did a good job," Stuart said at the time. "That's not taking anything away or being disrespectful to their coach, Brad Arthur, he's doing a really good job and I compliment him. But I like seeing them play well and I like seeing them win because the decisions I made there are decisions I have to make here in regards to the balance of a team, the quality of player ... in rebuilding a football team, there are two things that have got to happen: one is time and two it's big decisions."

What was left out of that interview ...

"And oh I forget there is a third thing, and probably ... no definitely ... the most important thing. Me leaving and a real coach put in charge"

The Broncos clearing $1M to sign Darius Boyd is one of the most f**ked up ideas I have ever heard.

Do you think? Im guessing Barba has not impressed and he will be the one they are trying to cut.

Hoffman is not a 5/8 and milford is a better fullback than the both.

So you have 1 Milford 6 Boyd 7 Hunt
Hoffman could maybe play centre but you have hodges and Copley. Really they have 3 guys who play fullback and none that can play 5/8.

He's pointing out that he made all these decisions, then a season later we are back on track, so he'll make decisions this year and then Canberra will bounce back next season

Its mind blowing to see Boyd get lead around by the hand where ever Bennett goes.

Has there ever been a precedent like this in the NRL.

Bennett announces he is leaving and Boyd admits himself to a clinic for depression, seriously, is this guy an adult or a kid ?

I sorta agree with what you are say, but I also feel sorry for Boyd from all reports he was bought up by his grandmother and no one else, who is quite sick I think. There was an article recently or maybe it was on radio where Kent mentioned how Boyd recently was given a presentation by QLd as he had play 20 games and he had no family to invite. Considering his up bringing he probably has an attachment/need to be with Bennett. He wouldn't be the first to have issues due to his upbringing , I don't think it would be nice being rejected by both your parents. It would play with your head for some people.

Read the article knob jockey.

I don't see the problem. If we're paying players to play elsewhere it's because we had younger cheaper options coming through the 'academy'. If they had been coming through two or three years earlier we wouldn't have needed to overpay merkins to fill in at those positions.

Penrith paid a few merkins to play for other clubs (Gordon, Lewis, Jennings) and they're currently top four. It helps that they never let their 'academy' fall to shit.

You need to look at the big picture. If we hadn't arseholed a bunch of contracted players we would have 25 in the top 25 and we wouldn't be paying three quarters of a million dollars to merkins at other clubs. But we also wouldn't have been able to blood so many youngsters out of the 'academy'.

You've actually pointed this out above, but in your rush to be a smartarse and put shit on people you were obviously too distracted to make the connection.
