So Hayne has signed a three year deal with San Fran. Tamou will be with us before June 30. Beau Scott is more than a maybe on compassionate grounds but I wont divulge the personal issues. Izzy to sign after the Rugby Yawnion world cup.

They definitely changed the rules duke111. People can't do what the Dogs did anymore - they effectively paid a contract up front, and were a million over the cap when they won that GF. 'No significant variance' is the rule since then. You can't pay a bloke $700k one year, then $100k the next. The stupid thing is that they don't have a rule on how 'significant' the variance should be. I have suggested they set it at 15%, but that would mean the cap auditor can't do favours for his mates and allow them to have 'significant variance'.... ridiculous!

Im sure there would be able to take a guy like watmough and say ok first year your 31 so we pay you 700k but in your last year when your 34 we only paying you 300k as thats all we think you be worth than.I dont think this is rorting the system in anyway.

Sure, but I guess you'd have to have it decrease along the way or something? So that it looks fair. But the problem with that is the 'fairness' is all in the opinion of one person.
Would be better if there was a rule - 15% variance between yearly amounts.
So Watmough could be 700/ 595/ 505/ 430.
I just think it would be fairer to have a rule, rather than an opinion. A rule makes it even, an opinion allows one to do X while another is allowed to do Y.

Let's lock him in for 4 years??

Can you imagine in 2018 a backrow of Scott and Watmough? I reckon Jeremy Smith might be available by then, although I'm not sure exactly how old he is.

That useless merkin Tamou better not be let anywhere within a 50km radius of Eels HQ unless he's playing against us...

Tamou has played Origin and for Australia. He mightn't be the player he was, on form if not ability, but he is far from useless.

At the right price he is a good signing (like anybody).

Incorrect. Just like Nelson was maybe the right price he was a bad signing as we have better back ups already so waste of money

If we get enough injuries and he plays first grade then he won't have been a waste of money.

Ideally you never have to use any players outside the top 25 and then all your second tier players are by definition a waste of money.

How many players outside the top 25 do you reckon we've used so far this year? I would say John Folau might be the only one (if he's not top 25 already).
