At full strength champion and taka are ahead of Morgan and i think you'd safely assume he was 3rd choice centre. He is a waste of cap space because he is on more then a 3rd choice centre form all reports. He adds value to the team as he is an excellent back up player but at the moment he offers no monetary value because he is over paid.

Agreed. Morgan is on too much for a number three centre, however I suspect he is too good to be a third choice centre. Is he good enough to start for a top four side? I think so, but many obviously disagree.

Your right we have used 21 players but i assume KE, Pauli, kaysa, kelly and tautai are top 25 and unused so thats atleast 26 players meaning we are using players outside top 25

I reckon Edwards is top 25 for sure, Toutai probably is, Pauli might be (50/50?), while Pritchard probably isn't and Kelly is no chance (he re-signed late last year to zero fanfare).

Nailed it. KE, Toutai and Pauli all top 25. Pritchard and Kelly 2nd Tier.

Hey half_back, do you know how long guys like Folau and Goodall are contracted for? And do you know whom we're trying to retain and which ones we're happy to let go for next year?

I agree Morgan is too good to be a 3rd choice centre but i dont think he os a top 4 team starter but then again reddyis starting for Souths so in a goof backline hs could do a job but he is not someone you break the bank for.

I agree Kelly is probably not top 25, was more just making the point that there was top 25 players that haven't played and so we probably have played 2nd teir players (falou, faraimo)

It shall be called the reddy player (in acting its called the Ethan hawk), u either have too many injuries or the depth isn't high quality or the promising junior isn't ready to step up. Enter the reddy

Did anyone pickup what was said about Ritchie on NRL360 ?

Parra have been forced to underwrite his insurance top up to the tune if $800,000.

So we could get insurance on all his body excluding his neck. Our club are topping up with $800k for any neck injury.

I've never rated the bloke.

Watch how Fa'aoso plays when he leaves up for us - he's coming back from a neck injury, too.

If Tamou ran like Gallen or Moimoi, and combined it with his footwork and skills, he'd be the best prop in the game.

But he's a cat, and the apparent fact we are keen makes me sad.

So you blokes reckon BA doesn't know what he's doing (if in fact he's doing anything with regard to Tamou)?

People are very quick to label players 'cats'. I don't reckon too many cats play front row in the NRL. For a cat, he has done well to make an average of about 110m per game in about 40 minutes of average game time.

Wherever he goes after the Cowboys, I reckon he'll do very well (assuming no more serious injuries).

Didn't we decide a few weeks ago that Toutai probably gave up top 25 for job security?

I thought it was possible but still unlikely. Then again, I also thought it unlikely that Faraimo would be outside the top 25 in the second year of his contract.

Since it's only paid if he hurts his neck, maybe it only counts under the cap in that instance too?

Eight hundred grand. Gee I hope he doesn't hurt his neck again.

I doubt any of it would count against the cap.
If he got a neck injury to the degree he would retire, and require the payment, then he is officially off the books for his (hypothetical) $80k salary. The club can pay anyone anything they want to pay them, it only becomes a salary cap issue when they step on the field.

That's why Burt is our kicking coach isn't it? He took unders for years, and was (allegedly) rewarded with a coaching gig at the end of his playing days. Can't retroactively count the coaching money against our cap of years gone by (if indeed some arrangement was sneakily made)

The 49ers (NFL) were pinged for doing the same thing for their retirees, though I don't see how you could even get caught. Just about every member of the coaching staff is a former player. Maybe they were paying 'too much' (whatever that is) for the role?

Club brought in Champion to be the experienced head for the young outside backs in Folau, Goodall and Lavaka. Obviously Lavaka has re-signed (2nd tier) and Folau and Goodall have been made offers I'm told as both are off this year.

Burty also mentors our 15/16 year olds at the academy who are living away from home.

They are in good hands.

It's my opinion. I stand by it.

A lot of people were against Watmough's signing, too.

I still think James Tamou is a tampon - especially considering the vast array of people who agree with that opinion.

As I mentioned initially, I was told Tamou wants to move back to Sydney, and we are interested. And I think it would be a shame to mess up a lot good work hitherto done with our pack to bring in this bloke.

And the concept that he's a First Grade frint-rower and ergo isn't a cat holds no water with me. Blokes of Tamou's size and skill should be dominating every week.
