Yeah the Duke doesn't do overs, Merrin at 750k is a steal :sarcasm:
He's alright but nothing amazing. The one I'd be hanging onto from our props in the NYC this year is Alex Twal. I think he's something special, he reminds me of a young James Tamou. We'll see how Tom Amone and Cameron King progress through the year but they're both potentially ones we need to hold onto as well.
From the current 20/21 year olds, Davis and Pauli are the 2 we could easily hold onto imo.
Merrin is on at least 100k more, and we needed a tough as nails leader. is Merrin really that??? Good player but lets face it the Dragons pack has been soft for a good while. On equal money, I'd take Merrin over Watbro.
Ask Hindy111, he told us the duke don't do overs. What about Soward, he's on something like $650k?
It has been some time since we have lost a junior we wanted to genuinely keep. It will certainly happen at some point but it will likely be for considerable overs or in a position in which we are truly stacked in talent given that the club seems to be on the rise.

I think Merrin is a good work horse and that's pretty much it.
Tepai is our Merrin and he comes in at 1/3 the price, thereabouts, and has far more explosive attacking and defensive power and skiils than Merrin. I would not be surprised that Tepai will more than likely take Merrin's SOO jumper this year or next. On the books of the Cap, we are doing much better than the Duke.
Mau is far cheaper and an overall better player than Sika Manu.
Mannah is a much better prop and value for $$$$ than any of the panthers props too.
Peats is a better overall hooker than Segreyaro and probably comes in around the same $$$.
Seriously, our pack shits all over the Panthers in almost all areas, particularly on cap $$$$ being spent far less than the Dukes, leaving lots of cap $$$ to acquire Foran who completely and utterly shits on Soward.
Even Sandow completely shits on Wallace.
And it won't be long during the early stages of this season when even Hopoate shows that he is a much better fullback than that pussy foot wanking Moylen.
The evidence of all this should be revealed on the leaderboard come round 22 onwards.
Penrith do have a few good players... Brown, that kiwi center, Moylen, Segreyaro, and a few others.
Then why are the Panthers top 4 and the best result we have in the last 4 - 5 years is 10th??

I reckon we are also another front rower short

Except Tony Williams, I agree, but then Manly supposedly paid massively for him. The other juniors in recent years (e.g. Tupou), we let go willingly. Absentmindedly perhaps but willingly nonetheless
T-Rex is stretching it a bit far back these days and well and truly before the overhaul to our identification, retention and development systems. Tupou and Taufua are two of the most apparent recent mistakes but even then they pre-date the restructuring.
In the time that I have made a conscious effort to follow the lower grades I don't think that we have lost any kids of top-shelf ability and rather we have and continue to make excellent acquisitions.
