Sandow has had issues with the punt prior, no doubt he'll be looking for top dollar in what could be his final contract. For mine it's

1 - Norman
3 - Hoppa (if we can afford him, highly doubt the $800K)
6 - Foran
7 - Sandow
13 - Matterson

Yep.

If we need to move someone on, Hoppa goes. If we need to fill the centre position from out side then I reckon we could entice someone like Hurrell over for less money than Hoppa would be asking.

i'd be quite disappointed to lose hoppa - i think he offers alot of intangibles that are hard to rate ..... but there's only so much money to go around .... I trust whatever BA decides

Why would this mean that we lose Hoppa ( centre or FB ) to sign a half that takes a previous fullbacks coin, only to move a half we signed as a half, who signed apparently because he wanted to be a half not a fullback, to fullback?

Doesn't make a lot of sense.

SO what does the worst kept secret in the game about Kieran Foran joining Parramatta next season mean for the current Eels halves pairing of Chris Sandow and Corey Norman? Surprisingly, the forecast is blue skies and sunshine.

As it stands right now, the Eels are looking to extend the off-contract Sandow’s deal beyond this season provided he maintains his fitness and form from round one.

Norman’s future is just as intriguing, with the Eels hatching a plot to move him to fullback. Norman is under contract until the end of next season and with a left-foot kicking game, clever vision and experience playing fullback, it’s a logical move from the Eels.


The Parramatta backline reshuffle would then be complete by William Hopoate returning to the centres, where he debuted for the NSW Blues as a teenager.

Crucially from the blue-and-gold perspective, the Eels current roster would remain intact and none of the changes would come into play until next season.

Foran’s management met with Parramatta powerbrokers last Wednesday to continue working towards an official announcement next week.

So the way I see our salary cap situation for this year... we should get dispensation for Edwards and Pritchard due to being out for the whole season, we should have Fa'aoso's money as the NRL have refused to register his contract (although their positions may be replaced with someone on minimum wage so would only be the difference) plus whatever is left over from Hayne's contract money. Why can't we front load and extend some of the players coming off contract this year, so that we can keep the likes of Sandow, Hoppa, Taka, RR even with Foran coming on board from next year?

Sign a half,

Move a half to FB that purportedly left his previous club because he didn't want to be a FB.

Move on your fullback.

On the basis that the current FB was signed for too much, and after one game at FB that's immediately apparent.
