It has been widely reported that Norman was playing injured for most of last year and a lot of people had him as MOM against Manly.

He deserves a chance to show us what he can do when he is fit, then we can decide.

This leak will cause him to backflip on the deal

And if he did, would anyone blame BA for cracking the sh*ts and f**king off from parra to go and coach Manly next year??!!

Imagine that! Hoppa goes back to Manly for 2016, BA takes Sandow with him to partner Foran in the halves, Watmough gets a release as per a BA clause in his contract....

And we're all back to where we started!!

Sandow and Norman finally look like they are going to set the world on fire this year, I hope the two are professional enough to realise that getting Foran is not a loss of confidence in the pairing rather it has the potential to increase the teams odds of winning a premiership incrementally while taking the pressure off them. Not sure how keen Norman is going to be if he loses the position he came to the Eels for as he is signed until next year.

I think Sandow and Hopoate would be silly to lock themselves into anything with us right now, if they both have good seasons they are going to be able to command a lot more money on the market then we can possibly have left after splashing it on Foran. According to Zero Tackle, Hopoate is allegedly on $800k and Sandow on $550k, one would think that we are going to have to end up paying Sandow more if we decide to keep him as an in-demand Halfback and Hopoate about as much if he performs well. With clubs like Manly potentially driving up Sandow's price, I think Hopoate is looking the least likely to be able to be retained right now so lets just hope this is the year the Hoppa Choppa lands in a Grand Final.

I hope I'm wrong and we find the salary books that teams like the Roosters use because in terms of the actual make-up of our backline we have a position for everyone.

People talk about Hoppa being on $800K, but who really knows ? I'm pretty sure that when those numbers were thrown around they were amid reports that we had signed all his siblings and his father was to have a role.

Even if he is on (say) $600k, how much of that is 3rd party ? To say a player is overpriced or taking up too much of the cap is grasping at straws unless you have intimate knowledge of our entire salary cap.

I don't think he is taking up too much space, he will command that space or more with a good season this year. It's whether or not they have prioritised him in this space, which if so they must be pretty confident in having after making it rain on Foran.

I don't think manly are interested in Sandow at all. I reckon Sandow will stay for a lot less than what he could get elsewhere, basically because he knows Arthur has got the best out of him and he wants to ride our success. He realises Arthur has a gameplan for him that other clubs probably won't be able to replicate. I could basically see him telling his manager "just get me decent offer from eels and I will sign".

I reckon Norman is the one more likely to get offers to leave that he may seriously consider

Also is that amount over two years? Or over 4 years? It is possible we paid him on his mission

It's not just Manly. Cronulla failed to snare DCE as Robson isn't their long-term solution in the role, if they could even entertain DCE they can entertain Sandow. Sandow seems to love it at the Eels now so you might be right about wanting to stay here but I don't think he would object to playing with Barba if he gets his act together, if offered more money. I hope he stays as he is my new favorite after Hayne leaving.

Also with hoppa which club in Sydney really needs him? There is rumours manly want him but where would he fit into their backline? He aren't a half and they already have rep players at fullback/Centre.

Dogs now have a big name fullback. Sharks appear to be chasing half. I doubt penrith are interested. Tigers/dragons may be interested. Souths/roosters wouldn't need him

I don't reckon Sharks are an option unless Barba goes to fullback which is unlikely with gordon back there. I doubt any coach would want a Barba/Sandow half combo, it would seriously f**k their defensive structure big time. Oppositions would just find it to easy to target them

Look, it's a nice romantic notion to think that Sandow will happily sign on at Parramatta for less money than he's currently on. But it just isn't realistic, UNLESS, he gets absolutely zero interest from any other clubs. What are the chances of that? Sharks missed out on DCE, so they've obviously got buckets of cash ready to spend on someone. Why wouldn't Manly have a go for him? Like the Sharks, if not more so, they would have a truckload of cash burning a hole in their cap. He and Sezer would be good for each other I reckon. Hell, even the Broncos look like they need someone better in the halves if Ben Hunt decline continues. They sorely need some creativity in their ranks right now.

If it came down to a bidding war, and Parra stuck to their guns insisting he would have to stay for less, say 400K-450K (which would be an absolute steal going on his form over last 12 months), it's likely the Sharks and Manly could/would be able to offer him double what Parra would. And as much as we'd all like to think he owes Parra and he'll stay because he likes BA, he thinks we're going to win a GF, or he likes the restaurant strip on Church Street... it would be econmically derelict for him to give up 2, 3 or 4 hundred thousand dollars a year.

And remember, we kept hearing that Foran coming to Parra was not a money decision, but about playing under BA... 1.2 million a season is pretty good money for someone who didn't sign for money!!!

Sharks would be a good fit for Sandow, especially if Barba goes back to FB. Michael Gordon is not the long term fulback for the Sharks, he's getting on now.

I hope Sandow stays at Parra, but if he does, he's not going to sign for less money just because he believes in sunshine, lollipops and rainbows and everyting that's wonderful like some would like to believe...

On 600k Hoppa is overpriced.
Robo would do just as good a job at fullback.Cost around 150k.
And in the centres Taka would do as good a job.Hoppa is a good player. Not worth over 400k IMO

All very good teams have very good fullbacks. It's fantasy that you can fill that position with a cheap option.
