Agree whole heartedly Momo started the year as third choice centre and ended up playing 19 games including GF, he is also a good goal kicker. He isn’t a 14 but a specialist first grade 3 or 4. He must have something Ivan and Bellamy took him on and Robbo took him back. Anyhow shame to lose him at this point.
The Brains trust on Mulgoa Road should know what they are doing but more importantly are they doing what they want to do.

The later we wait the better quality we can get. Can only comment on the 25 players we have now

Fullback/wingers are good
O'Sullivan gives good halves depth
Hooker Kenny is a handy back up
middles are stacked

Centre and Backrow looks light atm

There might be few hints re: centre during the NRL trials (trial and error so to speak), if Charlie has hit a wall career wise maybe Jenkins could be in the mix.
I personally think the "Brains Trust" are doing an excellent job by not getting caught up in bidding wars. One door closes another door opens.

Long term Jenkins is the centre. NSW Cup were going the win the comp. We would of seen him and a few others go in that grade. How far they regressed is the big unknown

I reckon north of half a mill.
He was on huge money at the Broncos.

No idea what the Dragons we’re paying him, or perhaps what the Broncos were chipping in as well but he has chronic knee issues. Career ruined by injury, which is sad, but too big a risk even at say $500k.

I'd take him for 500k as he covers afew positions and would make a great centre option.

if we do not spend the full cap, does the difference carryover to the following season?
No. As I understand every side is obliged to spend a certain amount of there salary cap each season, perhaps 90%. Im not sure any left over is able to be carried forward as I believe the front loaded/back loaded contracts were scaled back or outlawed. I could be wrong but thought that was the case from a season or two back.

Clubs always leave 5-10% set aside anyway. Allows for bonuses if unused that gets used for advance paying toward the next seasons deal
Are the so called back ended deals now outlawed so to speak. I had a feeling they were or was it just Gus who was vocal against them.

Had a good year in 2021, him and Hunt were the Dragons best players.

Jack Bird played 22 games this year. Had an extremely unlucky run with injuries at the Broncos but this year bucked the trend. He is still producing some very good football.

Not that it matters. He won't be playing for us. Dragons aren't letting him go and he costs too much.

Also, we have a great junior base.
