Rumoured & Confirmed Signings - Part 5

Sorry if I misunderstood what you said.

My only thought on this subject is, that the actions of his two drop kick brothers, should not be a reason to sign him. I think he’d fit really well into our system and just go about his business.

I’ve no doubt he’s way to expensive and the club is most likely not willing to risk having another May at the club and that’s fair enough.

But playing wise, he’d be a real weapon for us.

That all said, I wouldn’t sign him. I’d prefer to spend cash elsewhere.

After listening to Matt Camerons youtube video with james graham and hearing about how the squad is basically planned out for the next 3-5 years i just dont think signings like this fit.

We only got papali cause fish left out of the blue.

I agree hes a terrific player but regardless to whether he has done nothing wrong or not i think the mays have burnt there bridges with the club and id say there is no chance that a May will ever play at the club again.

No doubt the plan is to slowly phase leota out over the next 3 years with patea to eventually come into the 17 full time and then hopefully within 3 years or so the lemoto boys are knocking on the door if we can keep them away from Rah Rah.

The way i see it i think yeo probs has 3 good years left in him. Leota maybe 2. Soro maybe another 2. Edwards maybe 3 to 4.

The rest of the boys should be right for 4+ years so the club has done a terrific job for future planning.

I wouldnt be suprised if Eiso gets more games next year. Hes extremley reliable and hes never let us down. Mav hopefully can kick on next year. I think if he fails to really kick on he may be moved on.

"Violence" can be interpreted many ways. It used to be pretty much confined to a physical act, but now it's more broad. I'm not sure that "emotional violence" is an accepted legal terminology, but it most definitely a term that is used and accepted among society.

Emotional Violence would be how an act left the victim emotionally after the fact. In the Tyrone case the women involved you would think would fall under that category. I do agree that labeling Tyrone a violent sex offender is hyperbolic, but can see why people go there.
The offences Tyrone was convicted of involved filming intimate acts without consent. No where in the proofs of the offence is violence an element of the offence. I’m sure the Magistrate would take into account any adverse emotional impact suffered by the victim in determining sentence. However distasteful his actions were they did not involve physical violence, offer or threat of violence.

As I have said previously it is disappointing the Police investigation did not identify who caused the wider distribution of the recordings. Maybe they did, but didn’t have sufficient evidence to initiate criminal proceedings. Disappointing because that person or persons also committed an offence and escaped justice.

I hope we see a bit less of esio, I certainly agree with you, but I have higher hopes for the younger blokes coming through.

Big year for Mav, I think he’ll be up to it and pushing for a bench spot.

I said it wasn't physical and also that it probably didn't fit legal terms.

The point remains, his actions resulted in damage to 2 women's emotional wellbeing. Some would regard that as a form of violence. We aren't talking court proceedings or official charges.

I would also be pretty comfortable that he had no intent whatsoever to cause any harm physical or otherwise to anyone. Fact is though that he did. Whoever distributed it should have copped something, but if it wasn't filmed there is nothing to distribute. Sometimes stupidity has a price.

To me that sounds like a good, sound plan.

Luron Patea will be a good solid player maybe even a great player. I think him jumping the queue over Lisati showed the direction club wants to go in and wraps on Luron (I know there’s other factors to Lisati leaving).

Luron has so much talent and still very young. No doubt seen as an eventual like for like (well similar) replacement for Moses Leota.

Yep no doubt he is the future but i think he may still be another 12 to 18 months away from of regular fg.

Other then spencer we took our time with henry and smith. Spencer was physically (strength wise not fitness) ready for fg very early for a prop.

Patea doesnt have as much explosive power as Spencer or his leg speed. I think the club take their time with him.

Leota had an avg year but i think he will lead the pack next year without fish.

Yeo leads the pack. The way he gets somehow overlooked is very odd

I love Yeo, but leading a pack in terms of toughness is a different kind of leadership. That's not Yeo. Stamping your physical authority on the opposition is not Yeo's thing. We need Leota, Kenny and Martin to do that and establish "You shall not pass", instilling fear in the opposition.

I have said this before, no opposition forward is checking under the bed for Yeo when they go to sleep at night. He tackles well, but nobody is booking a chiropractor after he hits you.

On the other hand, I bet plenty of them have booked Monday sessions with the Chiro after playing the Panthers. The Doctor says "how did it happen?" The player says "I was taking a hit up and then I saw these two steely eyes, sort of like a demon's, and a mop of curly hair, it was very frightening, then I just felt pain". The Doctor says "there's a lot of that going around at the moment. Its called Liam Martinitis. I can help you, but it could be worse". The player says "Worse, my ribs are killing me, how could it be worse?". The Doctor say"Well, I have had quite a few cases of Kennyitis and it is far more painful. They don't even know how it happens, they just see a flash of something below them and it stops them in their tracks. Now, let me help you get your ribs realigned"....

This is our problem that will never get fixed because of who we are. I agree we should take time to building him up, but there should be some protection we are not doing it just for another club to poach.

Yeo makes the most meters and most tackles. He also doesn't phone in games for months at a time like others. He's the f**king leader, put some respect on his name.

He might make the most tackles, but not all tackles are equal. Who would you want tackling you, Yeo, or Leota.? Yeo or Martin?

Nobody is disrespecting Yeo, he might be seen as one of the best forwards to ever play the game by the time he finishes his career. But he is no enforcer. You need an enforcer to put steel in the pack and that is not his role, why would you even argue it is? JFH lead our pack when it comes to doing the tough stuff. Now we need somebody else to step up.

The toughness of the Panthers pack is the most underrated element of our four peat. It is never mentioned because our pack never went around causing trouble like NAS or JWH. They didn't make a song and dance about being tough, they just belt you and get back in the line and got on with the job of dominating opposition forwards. Our front three rarely got beaten and Yeo has been the glue, mopping up tackles, supplying tough metres and plenty of minutes. Sorro has played a similar role, with less volume.
