Sharks are becoming a club where the players do not want to leave.
Prediction: Wilton signs on, only for 2 years though. He's definitely the player that a manager can smell money about.

Yeah Wilton for sure....especially while the Panthers are circling and he’s off contract. Nicho still has 2 years to go and had already said he loves the place and has the connection with Fitz so no real rush there I reckon.
And Panthers subbed Garner off tonight, Salmon came in get it done quick

The more I see of our current squad, the more I’d be happy to give big NAS the cheque book and pen and let him choose his price. Whilst all players have a ‘market value’, some players are worth more to certain teams due to the gaps in their squad.
So, big NAS might be worth say $700k on open market, but to us, he’s exactly what we need, and could actually be the missing piece in the Premiership puzzle, so worthy of paying say $900k to us. I’ve just completely made those numbers up to make a point, so don’t know if they’re anywhere near the mark, but I’d pay whatever it took to get him.

Souths play Arrow and Koloamatangi in the backrow. They also have money tied up in Walker, Mitchell, Cook, Murray, Graham etc. For context we signed 1 player this year and Souths could not even afford that. Lazy reporting from a lazy troll.

I don’t know. Maybe they have had enough of arrow. Is he signed for long term?
Also why he sign for a club where John is the assistant? They get moved around constantly. He might even be offered a super league head coach role

Arrow is there until the end of 24 so 25 he is not on the books. Seems a stretch given the big names are now all tied up. I can't stand Arrow. Dickhead. Comes across as such a f**kwit. You could argue he is a middle sure but then they also have young blokes like Illias, Moale etc who would need cap planning. They will be in the market for up and comers/vets. You could argue Wilton would be an up and comer however I think he is priced out of that range and if he wants cash he would go to another club that could pay him more.

Raiders who just missed out on Fifita would be a much more believable rumour given he was in their program as a kid/from the south coast.

I still think he stays. They all do atm unless we can't fit them in like Pele.

NAS would be ideal, Ennis was a menace then he signed with us and was a hero.
JWH for one year if we can't get NAS, don't pay overs maybe he would do it a a favor for Fitz

Teig Wilton has revealed he is hopeful of remaining at Cronulla long-term, despite growing interest from rival NRL clubs to secure the second-rower for 2024.

The 23-year-old has emerged as an important part of the Sharks' outfit in recent years, scoring nine tries in 46 appearances in the top grade.

Wilton has usurped former skipper Wade Graham for the starting edge role in the Shire and is expected to push for a State of Origin berth with NSW later this year.

After debuting for the Sharks three years ago, Wilton has cemented himself in the lineup under head coach Craig Fitzgibbon - but there is still no deal locked in for next year and beyond.

MORE: NRL Round 2 confirmed teams | Did the NRL get Wade Graham's suspension right?

According to a report from Wide World Of Sports, the Narooma product has attracted interest from up to six NRL outfits, with the Rabbitohs reportedly in the box-seat should he decide to leave Cronulla given his uncle John Morris is assistant coach at the club.

But in a recent interview withThe Sporting News, Wilton admitted he had no desire to jump ship and is expecting to re-sign with the Sharks sooner rather than later.

"There’s nothing to talk about now," he said.

“That’s all in the works now – hopefully it all works out and I stay at Cronulla.

"I love this club and I will be looking forward to hanging around."

Wilton has struck up an exciting attacking combination with five-eighth Matt Moylan on the left-side, but the pair had a rough night defensively in Round 1 against the Bunnies.

With a settled roster at Cronulla and spending more time working on their combinations, Wilton is expecting them to remain near the top of the table in 2023.

“We’ve all been playing together for a while now and that can only help us," he said.

"We’re understanding how each player plays and getting those relationships and building on them. It can only benefit us by playing more seasons together with the same squad.

“It’s just having that time together and getting the reps in...he [Moylan] has been a great player for a long time and he is an instinctual footy player and he creates a lot of opportunities around him."

Wilton's emergence has seen the club's long-standing leader shifted to the interchange this year, and Graham will now miss the next four weeks due to suspension for a high shot on Davvy Moale.

Despite playing and competing for the same position, Wilton continues to use Graham as a sounding board in the early stages of what promises to be a lengthy first grade career.

A new history starts now in the Stan Original Documentary Series Dawn Of The Dolphins. Now streaming, only on Stan

“Obviously we are playing the same position, but Wade has been awesome to me my whole career, on the field and off the field," he said.

"He’s a natural leader and a stand-up bloke and he has been awesome for me.

"Ever since I stepped into first grade all the way up until now, I still lean on him for advice and he’s more than happy to give it."

Cronulla will look to bounce back from their opening round loss to South Sydney when they take on the Eels on Friday night.

Souths have about 6 forwards off contract though. One if Tom Burgess on about $650-700. They'll have money.
