If there was an NBA/NFL style draft for young players in NSW cup Vea’ila (21) and Puru (22) would be at the pointy end of it. Great to keep them as well as the older heads. A fair few youngsters got signed up as well including Felix Faatili who is f**king huge.

We need a superstar, a game breaker, and to get that, it means we’re probably going to have to let some very good players go and make a harsh call on cutting someone who’s done well for us.

My view is we need a superstar signing at either 1 or 6 - and given the lack of superstar 6’s available, it looks like it would need to be at fullback (and I say that with a heavy heart as Will is actually one of my favourites).

On that basis, whilst I love our 2 wingers and am more than happy with Will, given the dollar I suspect Ronnie will attract and the fact we have Stonestreet waiting, I’d be willing to sacrifice Ronnie, Cam Mc and Will K if we could attract a genuine superstar fullback.

Pappy obviously ticks those boxes, but is a big risk, but maybe a risk we need to take.

I’d also be happy to throw a fair bit of coin at Kini - he’s probably not great defensively, but he is ELECTRIC in attack, and tough as old boots. I suspect we’d probably only have to lose 1 (maybe 2) if the sacrificial lambs named above to get him.

Im confused . Is that a spelling correction for Faatili ? Or is it an unkind reference to suggest he may be carrying some excess ballast?

Fitzy is a product of the Roosters. At times in the past the Roosters have done very well by spreading the quality across the 25 players. It pays off by keeping you in the 8 at the back end of the season. In the words of Mr P Gallen.’ In the finals anything can happen’.

I agree with pretty much all that but still think Pappy is too big a risk. Has only played an average of 13 games a year compared to 22 per year from WK over the past 4 years. At maybe double the price very risky imo. I haven't given up on Dykes being that x-factor but he desperately needs to play some footy next year. Ison also shows a lot of potential and may be ready by '26. Personally I'd be putting my faith in Ison and Dykes and I think Fitz probably will too. Only an opinion but one of the last guys I'd be moving on is McInnes. Loves the joint and is the heart and soul of the pack.

Dykes injury’s really has caused problems with our recruitment.
Pre season 2 years ago he was very close to getting the number 1 jersey.
Along with the option of playing 5/8.
Now he has missed 2 years of footy and we are still non the wiser if he can make it.

For me, the sensible way forward for this is to plan that he won’t make it - then if he does, it’s a bonus of a condundrum to have. Regardless of the view on him, he’s going to have to come back through Reggies at any club he was at - and he needs to tear it up there first.

He is a big kid compared to his dad, but can he shake the injuries, time will tell but hopefully the club don’t sit and wait too long. Timing is everything.
