is he the young winger from the rabbits?

He is.
But ive just herd from someone at the club, we are in talks but reports that he is signed are off the mark, at this stage we're talking to him about a deal. Nothing's been done yet

Shane tore his bicep clean off his arm in trials, will be back Round 20.

Very painful injury, i hope for depths sake we re-sign him, he never lets the team down when he comes in.

Antonio Kaufusi -> Souths

Souths had the best offer, Kaufusi's management wanted more. Was thinking of seeing out the remainder of his Storm contract but must have had a re-think because apparently his asking price has come down significantly (possibly because he can't crack 1sts at the Storm). Still bartering over details but big chance of happening.

EDIT: Also, Rugby League week's the mole section has a rumour that Shannon Hegarty is in negotiations with ESL (possibly Wigan) here's hoping this one comes off

Why would Rooney go to Canberra???

1. Dugan, 2. Graham, 3. Monoghan, 4. Purtell, 5. J.Carney, 6. T.Carney, 7. Herbert

?? Where would Rooney fit??

IMO he may go to Souths, Wests or Brisbane.

J.Carney will move to the centres before the year is out in place of Purtell. So infact its a wing spot that is open... Purtell is a catch and dive specialist tbh, he'll spend a large part of the next few years at Souths Logan imo.... Goodwin and Rooney might fight out the wing position... at least until Vidot or Low are ready from our U20's...

IMO Purtell is under-rated.

Prior to injury he was getting over the stripe ALOT. IMO he is big and an asset close to the line. I'd keep him in the #5 then.

Thing is you then have Bronx Goodwin, rumoured to be getting Bryson and also Sam Huihahau. Don't see where Rooney would fit.

Id say Bryson and Huihahau are in the pipeline incase we dont get rooney
Purtell was scoring a few tries but ask a raiders fan if they've even seen him beat a bloke on the inside or out and he'll be stumped, all purts trys were basically catch, run and dive. He scored one or two off high kicks also... Essentially he is the exactly type of player as rooney, except rooney is as bad defensively.

Goodwin would still be my pick for #5. But what you've gotta remember is Purtell, Graham and Monaghan are are very injury prone, so there is definitely room for Rooney, but id rather keep Milne and promote from U20's tbh... id take Huihahau though

This would be a great signing imo, It would build a great foundation for our prop forwards in Manuokafoa and Greenfield.

Asotasi, 26 (3 Years left on his contract) and Kaufusi, 23 (Possible 4 or 5 year contract) would be a massive up front.

The Kaufusi rumour is rubbish. He was in the saturday edition of the Bundaberg NewsMail (his home town daily newspaper) and stated he is staying with the Storm and not negotiating with Souths.

Gold Coast Titans hooker Clint Amos may go to Cowboys

Article from:

By Matt Marshall
July 03, 2008 12:00am

SHELVED Titans hooker Clint Amos is weighing up a return to North Queensland next season as the Gold Coast's cleanout continues in earnest.
It has already been revealed that six players – Michael Hodgson, Luke Swain, Gavin Cooper, Josh Lewis, James Stosic and Kris Kahler – will part ways with the Titans in October.
Now the player stocktake could also claim Amos, a popular club man and former local Burleigh junior.
Off-season Bulldogs recruit Billy Ngawini has been told he will not be handed a new contract for 2009.
Furthermore, it is understood the Gold Coast would also listen to any release requests by Tweed Heads props Ian Donnelly and Matt Cross – who are yet to taste first grade action this year.
However, both are contracted for next year.
"I really just want to be at a place where I can play first grade," Amos said yesterday.
"It's still up in the air, I don't know what I'm doing yet. My family is here and these guys (Titans) gave me a crack, so I would love to stay. But I'm 24 and I'm really hungry to be playing first grade."
Amos, 24, a regular for the Gold Coast in its first campaign, has been squeezed out of the NRL squad this season with Nathan Friend developing into an 80-minute player.
Amos's showing last week against the Dragons was just his fifth NRL game of 2008 and his first since round 4.
Amos, who has 27 NRL games under his belt, spent three seasons in Townsville before joining the Titans last year.
He has a strong relationship with incoming Cowboys coach Neil Henry.
Gold Coast has yet to table a deal for Amos, although he is highly regarded by coach John Cartwright.
The Titans will this morning hold their final tune-up ahead of tomorrow night's clash against table-topping Manly at Skilled Park.
There was some good news for the battling Cowboys yesterday with prop Carl Webb's ankle injury not as serious as first feared. MRI scans yesterday showed a grade 3 ligament sprain which will sideline Webb for 4-6 weeks.
Former Origin front rower Matthew Scott has also been cleared to make his return from an ankle injury.
