Reynolds is a natural organiser. Not an individual like Sutton or Sandow. He is the type of half we've been crying out for. He will find his feet ok. Might take a few rounds but he'll come good. If we picked up Carney I still reckon Reynolds would be our 7. Sutton would move to lock. Only worry IMO is he's coming off a knee reco. If he stays fit he'll go well.

Yeah but both of this years rookies were good.
This time last year they were just as unproven as Reynolds.
Just look at those players though.

Foran/DCE
Maloney/Johnson

Who do Souffs have?

Sutton/???

Both sides have 2 quality halves. Souffs will have one of the worst 5/8's in Sutton and some random halfback.

LOL@50uff$
Inglis has won a CC medal at 6. He'll carry the load while Reynolds gets used to the top grade.
But the point is that Sutton won't be able to take the pressure off him as he finds the time to get the feel for first grade. That is why I believe they will struggle next year.
Sutton won't be five eighth.

And who knows, if rumours are to be believed, Reynolds might be making his debut alongside Carney...if Carney is firing at his best than Reynolds has his Foran/Maloney.

And in the event that Reynolds doesn't have what it takes and/or gets damaged beyond repair by Carney, we'll just buy Cronk next offseason.

Inglis is not a ball players in any shape or form. He is a worse option at 5/8 then Sutton. Souffs only hope is Carney imo.

Luke shits on Ballin and Friend... From a great height. Not only as a Hooker, but as a "second five eight".

Maybe in talent, but..

A) He couldn't organise a root in a brothel

and

B) He currently lacks the top 2% to control a game

Friend and Ballin won't do anything fancy, they won't make a thousand line breaks or try assists, but they defend a shitload better than Luke and control the ruck a shitload better.

That's what currently gives them the edge and what will make it harder for Reynolds coming in.

Adam Reynolds was better than Johnson and Foran in NYC. He was better than Sandow at that level as well. Its a big step up to NRL but he is one of the better halves to have played Toyota cup. He will go ok.

LOL playa pulleaasse. What a lot of hot bollocks. I can't even remember the chump when Johnson towelled the Rabbits up in the Grand Final. I also don't recall Andrew Johns gushing over him either.

Now you're just playin. Luke had a shocker this year. He became a Sandow-esque speed bump in the middle of the ruck. The dude seems to need an attitude adjustment. The best thing that could happen for his career is to move out of sh!tfern.

Reynolds wasn't far off Johnson at NYC level. He did lead us to the GF after all. Having not played a game for 18 months by the time round 1 kicks off is going to be a detriment, you'd think. We might not be able to get a good gauge on his quality at NRL level until later in the year.

On Issac Luke, the truth is that he is in the group on 9's that are a mile behind Smith. At times he is probably the number 2 DH, at times he is probably the number 12 DH in the game. Unfortunately for Issac is that his best and worst games are poles apart and as he has little to no kicking or passing game if our middle players don't get a roll on he can be largely anonymous in attack. His defense has fallen apart a little since his shoulder injury. Hopefully with a full off-season under a professional coaching regime he will get his confidence back in defense. We saw it at times in 2011, but it was sparing.

This argument that Reynolds was good in NYC so he will be good in NRL is crap. Beau Henry was the 2009 player of the year in NYC and regarded as the best young half but it did not mean he was a great NRL player. He was made to look good early on when Mullen was wining the dally M and was on fire but overall was a flop. Johnson, Foran and Evans are all in partnerships with a genuine ball playing and organizing half not a ball runner like Reynolds will be. If Kelly joins Souths it will be a lot easier for Reynolds to find his feet but if he is forced to do it alongside Sutton or Inglis then he will struggle.

Reynolds is an organising half, not a running half.

Why would Kelly be joining Souths after signing a 3 year deal at the Sharks?
