It is possible we have signed some players and kept it quiet until now. Possibly to announce after the Round 13 get out jail free card is gone. Perhaps this is a prelude to some signings to be announced next week.

Interesting that we release this on the day of the State of Origin. I wonder if that was intentional? Normally Telegraph reporters would be all over this like a fat kid on a piece of cake, but today they will all be occupied with the Origin.

The email has been posted in entirety on the eels FB page by a member.

I have to give credit to Edwards & RS on being so forthright & honest with members/supporters.

I recommend everyone read it in full, it is to put it simply a defining moment I feel for our club. Very strongly worded without sugar-coating.
if what jodeci posted earlier in the week is on the money about potentially losing the major sponsor we were getting for next year then it may be that they were trying to paint a public picture oof a brighter future to not just fans but also sponsors, even though most of the recruitment mentioned is already public knowledge.

no one comes to mind who may be readily available

I'm just not a fan and in view of what we are paying him, the money could be better spent

I think Ricky is a fan of hard work and for mine he does switch off alot, also his defence is not based on working hard, its hit and miss shoulder charges

I just dont see him fitting the mould of the type of player that Ricky would want but we may have to put up with him for a while yet

Just thinking about Sandow a little more. Would like to judge him when the whole team is playing well. So I'm probably undecided now.

Ohanlon obviously getting a chance to prove himself.

Roberts
Keating
Smith
Harrison
Blair

Keating is the interesting one here. Obviously he is the only one playing regular first grade. I think it would be interesting to know if Paulo, Fui, Sio and Maitua have been given permission to negotiate elsewhere.

Good leadership shown by Edwards and Stuart here. And let's face it this has been a long time coming and the players on the outer have had more than enough opportunities to prove themselves and haven't taken them.

I don't understand people thinking fui should be moved on. The man gives his all, all game, and we'd probably be better served moving 3/4 of the team before him.

Over a long period of time, there have been a lot of people who have lost their jobs at the Eels without the playing group ever being held accountable. As of*today *the playing group is being held accountable.

Agreed. Fui's still been one of our better players this year and is still making a lot of metres per carry. Overall he's probably still making more of an impact than Lussick and Allgood. We at least seem to get a decent roll on in the forwards when he's on the field.

That line is the best of the lot, plenty of coaches and staff have got the bullet and the players have been made of Teflon. I really think it started with Hagan and his cut and paste teams with guys pretty much allowed to do as they pleased and there were no consequences. I think Ando tried to change that but he fell foul of some of the playing group, same with Kearney. Look what happened when he dropped burt????? There was outrage from the fans and some of the playing group.

This needed to be done and more power to Ricky and Ken.

I agree mate, but with one year to go on his contract, given his age I dont think he will be re-signed at the end of next year. Im looking at more for Fui's benefit than ours, he was talking about playing for a few more years. I think if he could pick up a 3 year deal in the ESL I doubt we would stand in his way.
