You cut him. He is a loose cannon with no "home". Exactly the reason he should have stayed where he was.
Time will tell of course, but breaking good habits and a seemingly good situation given his track record has disaster written all over it.

He wants money. Same as every player. Even if Broncos or Souths get away with him being on sub $300k contracts they will be paying him more with third party deals. Dragons can't compete with them outside the cap.Galeforce;11278919;13630 said:Just the opposite .
If he now believes Souths took the correct actions when they sacked him.
If he has matured now appreciates the hard lesson.
If he actually likes Souths and can see the benefits for himself to return with the right attitude.
It could be a form of growth and maturity and closure for him.Redemption.
As such , this is why I think he wants to return to Souths.
The key decision for James Roberts is Sydney vs Brisbane for his future family. He has already decided if he returns to Sydney it is with Souths.
Some folks can understand growth/maturity/redemption and some cannot .

The only reason he is struggling with a decision is he has two similarly powered clubs as far as third party deals go and his deciding factor will likely be where he thinks can either get him an Origin jersey or a premiership first.

Wonder if this will effect Grant to the Tigers..

Vic Mackey;11279306;34695 said:Are there still cooling off periods if he is being released?
Yeah, applies to all contracts.Vic Mackey;11279306;34695 said:Are there still cooling off periods if he is being released?
A player may sign an extension of his contract with his existing club at any time
A player may sign with a new club only during the final year of his contract
A 10 business day cooling off period will apply to all contracts
A club signing a player is prohibited from making an announcement until the cooling off period has expired

Their press release states they reached an agreement overnight so who knows. Maybe they can't announce that he's officially contracted but they can say they have his signature. I got no idea.Vic Mackey;11279586;34695 said:So a club can't announce a player has signed until after the 10 day, meaning Roberts had signed with Brisbane nearly 2 weeks ago...wonder how saints and souths feel about that!
