And then there was two. The longer the James Roberts saga goes the more likely he is to come home to Redfern.

This "home" shit again.

You cut him. He is a loose cannon with no "home". Exactly the reason he should have stayed where he was.

Time will tell of course, but breaking good habits and a seemingly good situation given his track record has disaster written all over it.

Or, like I've said earlier he will be at the Titans for 2016 and come off contract when plenty of clubs can afford him. Also, it makes sense with the TV deal and increases. If he signs anywhere for more than two years he will lose out big time.

Just a thought.

He would be that stupid to go back to the club who sacked him total genuis.

Just the opposite .

If he now believes Souths took the correct actions when they sacked him.
If he has matured now appreciates the hard lesson.
If he actually likes Souths and can see the benefits for himself to return with the right attitude.
It could be a form of growth and maturity and closure for him.Redemption.

As such , this is why I think he wants to return to Souths.

The key decision for James Roberts is Sydney vs Brisbane for his future family. He has already decided if he returns to Sydney it is with Souths.

Some folks can understand growth/maturity/redemption and some cannot .

He wants money. Same as every player. Even if Broncos or Souths get away with him being on sub $300k contracts they will be paying him more with third party deals. Dragons can't compete with them outside the cap.

The only reason he is struggling with a decision is he has two similarly powered clubs as far as third party deals go and his deciding factor will likely be where he thinks can either get him an Origin jersey or a premiership first.

 He'll go where Anthony Mundine tells him to go.

Seems Roberts is going to thr Broncos, which the good oil suggested from day 1.

Wonder if this will effect Grant to the Tigers..

Maybe, maybe not. Souths still desperately need a centre for next year

Grant has signed with the Tigers already, just can't be announced until the cooling off period expires. Which is a strange rule but whatever.

Should not , the only question which would stop Grant moving , is how much Souths have to contribute for next 3 years. If too much , he stays.

Are there still cooling off periods if he is being released?

I'm guessing it's because Roberts contract was null and void but why didn't broncos have to wait 10 days. However that makes sense with the Grant contract as it would defiantly apply to him

Yeah, applies to all contracts.

• A player may sign an extension of his contract with his existing club at any time
• A player may sign with a new club only during the final year of his contract
• A 10 business day cooling off period will apply to all contracts
• A club signing a player is prohibited from making an announcement until the cooling off period has expired

So a club can't announce a player has signed until after the 10 day, meaning Roberts had signed with Brisbane nearly 2 weeks ago...wonder how saints and souths feel about that!

I guess if they had made an offer he preferred he would have been within his rights to opt out of the broncos offer and take one of the others. I guess it raises the question of how many cool offs a player can take, and if he had reneged on the broncos, taken up another team, but then broncos trumped that, could he go back. Its all a bit circular, when does it end?

Their press release states they reached an agreement overnight so who knows. Maybe they can't announce that he's officially contracted but they can say they have his signature. I got no idea.
