You’re talking like they signed him when he was some kid who no one knew. He was an Origin player, other clubs wanted him, he chose to resign with his current club. If he stayed for less how is that the clubs fault?

The Knights haven't spoken to him directly. Clearly it's happened indirectly though which is much of a muchness. But that's answering your question.
As to your question about Ponga. There is every chance that happens. But unlike Klemmer he has an incentivised contract and I'm betting one pegged to a percentage of the salary cap wherever that goes. That is what managers do for a player.
