Joey has a hard on for him and believes he can "unlock his potential" or some BS. Despite having shown no ability to do so with the halves we already have, or the ones at the Eels who have all improved since he left.
we have employed the wrong Johns brother to coach our halves, should get Matty here instead

Two years ago Joey said Brodie was arguably the buy of the season on Immortal Behaviour. He was discussing what makes a quality halfback. The limited footage of Brodie in a Broncs jumper in this segment actually made him look very dangerous running the ball. Looks like an organiser too.

I think I’d prefer Croft to Brookes. I do remember Brodie playing well against us when he was at the Storms.

Does Joey ever get anything right. Everybody is a world beater according to him. Hasn't he be working with the Knights halves, little improvement there.

I think the biggest criticism of Croft when he was in the NRL (at least when playing for the Storm) is that everything he was doing was premeditated. Before he even got the ball in his hands he had already decided whether he would run or pass short/long or kick etc but this basically limited him because he wasn't playing eyes up and reacting to the defensive line for example and this would make him easy to read and shut down. However the ESL is known for being more of a free flowing league without as much structure so I wonder if this has helped him learn to play more eyes up and instinctively.

We look like we are playing footy with out eyes closed most of the time so anything is an upgrade.

There is more than enough evidence to suggest he he gets it wrong most of the time.

Can someone clarify what his role was with our attack this year???

Yeah I'd like to know this too. Did he just drop in for a day during the pre-season to give the halves a few pointers or was he turning up every week and running training sessions with the team? Did he have any actual involvement during the season when everything was going to shit or was it just a small cameo during pre-season and then the team and coaching staff went away from what they had worked on?

It's hard to know how much of this Joey is actually accountable for, he was definitely not brought in as a full time assistant coach but more of a consultant right? But was he consulting with just a few playmakers or was he dealing with the whole team and sitting in on video sessions etc etc???

Our attack actually appeared to go backwards from where it was last year which is really saying something.

We can all acknowledge that while Joey is the best to play the game, he is a pretty ordinary talent scout and coach.... right....

BATTING AFTER BRADMAN FOR DOLPHINS

Dolphins coach Wayne Bennett is keeping a close eye on Newcastle centre Bradman Best.

Sport Confidential can reveal Best is on the radar of the Dolphins amid speculation the hulking Newcastle ace is under pressure to lift his game at the Knights.

The 21-year-old last year signed a three-year deal with the Knights and was hailed as a possible NSW Origin bolter after an eye-catching 2020 season that saw him score eight tries from 11 appearances.

But Best has struggled to produce his best form over the past 18 months. There are concerns about his attitude, which reared its head last month when Best was stood down for Newcastle’s clash against Canberra after he was late to the team bus following a loss to the Broncos.

Bennett has not made any approach to Best, but if the Knights are open to an early release, is it understood the super coach would consider a Dolphins lifeline for the hard-running centre.

Bye bye mate. It's such a great pity you were always injured and basically played as a second left back rower but I hope it works out at the Dolphins for ya.

I do think Best is worth persevering with. I'm more concerned about his fitness & injury history rather than his attitude tbh. I think he'll get the wakeup call that he needs after what happened this season and I think people are starting to catch onto the fact that he hasn't been playing like a superstar.

I haven't done research on it but what's the most number of consecutive games that Best has played since he made his debut? Surely it can't be more than 4 or 5 in a row? Anyone got any stats on this?
