Wait, so after all the commotion about ineptitude from the club, it actually turns out that they’ve handled all of the situations pretty well?

Like it or not, Dom was never going to commit to the club so early in 2022 once it became clear he was a chance of playing in the World Cup for England- he was always going to test the market. But now Newcastle hold the upper hand for 2023 and won’t let Dom go early unless they get exactly what they want. Result, bad situation turned into a win-win for the club.

Same for Miller- club got the player that they wanted, and didn’t cave in to the Sharks to do so.

Astounding.

Yes we have so much reason to give them the benefit of the doubt given the quality of our roster, how they play on the field, etc. 10 years ago I was already reluctant in giving our club the benefit of any doubt. Giving it now is just naive until proven otherwise.

Maybe when they do anything of note on the field they'll buy some credibility back.

We have been the worst club in the NRL over the past 20 years. It isn't even close. 4 spoons. We have literally won 20% of the spoons in the modern era.

Why the hell would they deserve any benefit of the doubt. Gotta earn that.

Living in Newy is never the issue for players. Why would someone from Sydney have issues living 90 mins from family? Can go there any day of the week if required. While yeah convenience is one thing, the damage to your brand is another. That is why players get cold feet IMO.

KNIGHTS IN BID TO SIGN SORENSEN

Newcastle Knights have a huge opinion of Penrith Panthers forward Scott Sorensen.

They’d actually love to have him on their roster this year.

During the week the Knights chatted to the Panthers about making it happen.

Their plan was to offer winger Dominic Young as a replacement for injured Taylan May, who is out for the season. In return, they wanted Sorensen.

At the end of the day, it fell through.

The Knights are still keen to offload the English winger following his decision to join the Roosters on a four-year contract. If he goes anywhere, it will be the Roosters.

Damn. That got me a bit excited until I read it fell through lol

Sorensen is a late bloomer but is coming into his best years at nearly 30. Has the DNA of some of the toughest forwards ever to pay the game. Dane, his uncle was an absolute beast.

We seem pretty damn keen to get rid of Dom for this year if you're to believe the media. Or at least use him as leverage I guess.

Good to see us thinking outside the box, for a change! Some club will need a winger for the season at some stage.

Peter Parr - the guy the Bulldogs wanted more than Gould - has been here 5 minutes. Calm down.

Depends which media outlet - and their connection to the Roosters - you believe really.

For a forum that jumps at shadows like this one, it’s probably anything. And everything.

One thing to say about Parr is he has worked both at the Broncos and Cowboys, and was the man who delivered JT to the Cowboys. Let us hope that lightning strikes twice one day, and we get our JT type player.
That was at a time where depth across clubs was great. These days the NRL is spread thin on quality players.

I hope you are right though. We're also still waiting for the fruits of Clint Zammit's labour.

We seem to have the right credentialed people here but I suppose it may take time to see it come to fruition.

When has he said he doesn’t want to be here this year?

He is contractually obligated to be here this year. Even you can understand that signing for four years elsewhere, a season in advance, raises the likelihood he has his mind and inevitably his focus on being elsewhere in about 7 months.

Hopefully a player swap can be done very soon.
