Rumoured Targets 3

Maybe a few years ago but he’s turning 32 early next year so would be a very short term option, he can goal kick but only kicks at 62% for the career so not really an improvement on Ponga
Haha ah right I honestly didn’t look at his goal kicking stats, my bad. I thought he was kicking somewhere in the 70s.

Cogger isn't a first grader.

IMO it's Gamble's spot to lose for round 1, with Pryce the contender to take it from him in pre-season.
And yet Penrith increased their offer for him. For a non first grader. The current premiers. He won’t walk in and replace Gamble. No one believes that. But to say he can’t play FG is unfair given how well he has played at Penrith .he could easily have crumbled under the pressure.

I didn't say he can't play first grade I said he's not a first grader. The only time he's looked even passable as a NRL half is while plugging a hole surrounded by a totally dominant team. Last year he wasn't even good enough to be a first choice half in England.

There's no world where an NRL team trying to win should go into a season with Jack Cogger as a first choice half.

Penrith have lost both their back up halves this year and their next best prospect is only 17yo. They want Cogger cause he can do a job for 1 year and then move him on.

Hes a reggie half who can fill in a good system for short stints. Every team, including the current premiers, needs them

lol When he signed we were all saying its for the best cause hes going to a system that is proven to improve players and give them success

What a difference a couple of wins over the last month makes

I wouldn’t say that comment was just based on the last month. Roosters whole game plan revolves around a power game through the middle. I can’t think of one of their outside backs that are playing to their potential or continuing to improve. There’s also the talk of them playing him at centre.

Regardless of our issues, there’s no denying we’ve given Dom every single chance to succeed. Would be very easy to shine playing on the end of our backline and that’s been all year not just in the last month. He’s never going to see that much ball again next season unless the Roosters completely change up their entire play.

How would he crumble at Penrith behind that team. Thats exactly why fringe players go there to learn their trade and up the asking price.

This year maybe but in previous seasons the Roosters have played a lot of their footy through their backs. Manu and Topou being standouts on how they can elevate an outside backs game

We certainly have given Dom a lot of chances over recent weeks but it hasnt been the case all year and its shortsightedness to think otherwise. We were terrible for large patches of not only this year but 2022 as well

I just thought it funny how quickly opinions change on recent fortunes of a club is all

I really can’t agree with this at all. To say we’ve only given Dom a lot of chances in the last few weeks is really far off the mark. He’s been one of the games leading try scorers for most of the season. If anything he’s has LESS opportunities in recent weeks as Ponga prefers the left side.

Hell even last year when the side was terrible he still improved so much that he went into the England side and drew the attention of rival clubs and they pounced.

People act like when we signed Dom he was an established star. He’d barely played FG in England and no NRL. For all the Knights faults, you have to give credit where it’s due, we really helped him develop and shine, but I’ll be shocked if this time next year he’s still the NRL’s leading try scorer at the Roosters.

Manu, Saulii and Smith have all regressed terribly this year, in attack and defence. Nobody’s denying they’re not a great club that get things right a lot more often than we do, but they’re not always better and this is one occasion that I think a player is going to regress rather than improve there.

Telegraph reporting Knights still want to meet with Jayden Sullivan even after the Cogger signing. Toohey thought the link was more driven by Sullivan's manager than a genuine interest from the Knights which I'm still inclined to believe. Reckon they're just trying to squeeze a few more dollars out of the Tigers.

Cogger confirmed. He's going to be our new 14 isn't he? Doesn't make a lot of sense he'd come here to be backup for 3 years when he could be backup for the Premiers for another year - especially when Cleary has Origin and is getting suspended/injured at least once a year.

Can only see Cogger as Cup 7 unless injuries and then backup for Gamble and Hastings.
Assume he wants to come home.

And as crazy as it sounds, I think Crossland starts the year at 9. He is coming along in leaps and bounds and I’m backing him to become a bit more polished over the offseason.

Brailey was co-captain when he left, so I doubt it. I don't think it's crazy though, it's within the realms of possibility if we continue on this tear that we're on.
