It's the wrong move. Sharpe will be as good as Brown within a year. Could have cleared the dead wood contracts and bought an actual halfback. Been waiting to see Brown fulfill his potential for years. He hasnt improved in years. He isn't a halfback and never will be. Too much of a space cadet. Doesn't have the temperament to be a top tier halfback and all the hopium in the world won't change that .
TBF a lot of people said this about KP a few years ago, especially in 2022 after the way his season ended that year. Since then he’s been absolutely elite at everything he does. So I definitely don’t look at Brown and think that he’s just another guy who won’t fulfil his potential. In fact KP might just be the right guy for him to spend some time with given the similarities between them.

That's true. KP had an awakening and changed his attitude after toilet gate. Brown had titty gate but hasn't learnt anything. Maybe KP can get through to him

My estranged brother is an Eels fan and he hates the Knights, probably as much as I hate him and I know he'd be seething about us signing Brown. Thanks to all the salty Para fans for helping me enjoy the experience I'm missing out on!

Props to all the Eels fans that read this and have enough self respect to not come in here and embarrass themselves like this. Y'all are the real MVPs.

You mean when Pearce helped a young squad go from 3 times wooden spooners to getting the Knights into the top 8 two years in a row for the first time since Joey retired.
I think Eels fans have completely blanked the Knights from existence prior to the Brown era. I don't blame them tbh, I wish I could too.

Yep and don’t forget first finals in 7 years too. Pearce was fantastic (until he decided to suddenly piss off at the very last minute).

Not sure if this has been mentioned yet, but was just reading about the Warriors offering Brown a big contract before he'd even played a game of first grade, and whose name should pop up...

According to the report, the deal was valued at $2.69 million, with an additional $57,651 for relocation costs. If Brown had accepted the deal, it would have put the teenager on the richest contract ever for a player yet to play first grade.

However, the lucrative deal orchestrated by talent scout Peter O’Sullivan could also be deemed as a breach of the NRL’s anti-tampering rules. Clubs can only begin talks with players from rival clubs on November 1, the year before their contract expires.

Yes, it's clear that he's wanted him for years and finally landed his man. It's probably the factor that fills me with the most confidence - he's a pretty good judge of talent. O'Sullivan has seen something in him at a young age.

But some fat guy on YouTube said he can’t play? We’re no better off than with Cogger or Pryce. Or we should sign a superstar like Jack Cole or Brad f**king Schneider.

At the end of the day that fat merkin says at the end of the day way too much.

They were going to pay him $1.1m. We only paying a tad more. Why they all think we wasted so much money? Would they have thought the same if he stayed?

The more I think about this, I would say we're even money or better to pull another rabbit out of the hat and, to the external league worlds shock and surprise, put Fletcher Sharpe in the number 7. We need another Cessnock boy in that jersey anyway.

Everyone is expecting us to try and warp Brown into something he isn't. I just don't see it playing out that way.
