Rumoured Targets 3

Read an article saying that we are looking at 3 more signings for 2017 and that we have a lot of money to spend.

Brown said we want another back, middle forward and edge forward

Does anyone know what's Randell's situation is? Unlike the Mamo for Wardell swap there's been little talk about Randell finding himself a new club.

For me the Kostjasyn signing is pointless if it doesn't come with Randell getting shipped off to a new club. Because we don't even get a salary cap benefit. There is enough utility value in the squad to deem Randell surplus to requirements.

It's a long shot in more ways than one, but I'd love to see Stockwell dig in and try and show the Knights wrong by having a big season. His form before injury last year was very impressive. If he were to play to his potential then he could definitely be a $350k player.

It would be nice if we were the club who signed players for 2018, and then during the 2017 preseason they had a falling out with their current club and came over 12 months early.

Good, at this point we're going to have a very different looking team next year, which we need. Onward and upward, lets see if we can snag 10th-12th, and not be mathematically out of contention by round 13.

It all sounds good, and on an individual basis I'm happy with each of our signings so far.

But the problem has been and will continue to be our unbelievable lack of creativity in key positions. There's no escaping that. It was easily identified last pre-season and it's easily identified now.

Mullen/Lamb, Hodko, Levi/Kostacyn/Mullen, Ross/Sio ... it's still a wooden spoon spine. A few solid first graders and some improved young talent will not change the fact we have zero to offer with the ball in good attacking positions.

Until that changes, I can't get too excited. And I think a lot of people are kidding themselves if they think Hodko just needed a season to 'find combinations' or Mullen needs to 'just get back to that form from a few years ago'. They are plodders in the modern game, they don't make the opposition guess or worry. One half like that is okay, but you need at least one quality playmaker capable of owning a game. Or you need a great fullback.

Personally I think hooker was the most important position across the NRL this year. The 3 best teams had the three best hookers (Smith, Ennis, Hodgson). We have the worst hooker(s) in the comp. Spoon.

How did Kevs year last year end up? He was going hard early on, I kinda lose track of the rest of the NRL when we're going like busteds. I'd take him back, I don't think we have many better outside backs. Kev and Sio on the wings goes alright at a good price.

From the article that JM posted I really like this quote "Since Brown’s arrival in Newcastle 12 months ago, numerous players have parted company with the club, including Chris Houston (Widnes), Adam Clydsdale and Joe Tapine (Canberra), Tariq Sims (St George Illawarra), Robbie Rochow (South Sydney), Akuila Uate (Manly) and Jeremy Smith (retired)."

There's not one player in that list that I would still want at the club and the possibility of Brown shipping on Mamo and hopefully Randell, and all you can state is that Brown understands the salary cap along with non first grade quality players well. Tapine is the only player on that list that I would be happy to get back, but not at his price tag.

Even though we only won once last season, I'm stoked the Knights signed Brown to fix the mess that others left him.

Dane Tilse had a sit down meeting with Nathan Brown last Tuesday. Brown said yesterday he needs someone to play in the middle @nbnnews
Experience, Prop, comes from Scone so fits into the "local" category, indiscretions long behind him, HKR connection ... might be ok if we don't pay a lot for him on a 2 year contract at most.

2016
Remaining at right centre in 2016, Naiqama scored his first treble in the round 3 match against the Titans. By mid-season, he was named as one of the most improved players of the year, and it was said he had, "become a genuinely dangerous player down the Tigers' right side, appearing in every game this season. His success is the result of nothing but hard work and persistence."[25]

At season's end, he again represented Fiji in a test against Samoa in Apia, captaining the team to a 20–18 victory
Big wraps up until June but not much said since.

I think Kevvie was pretty good this season at centre. Maybe not his best position. I never wanted us to let him go in the first place.
