Rumoured Targets 3

Before we signed Buhrer I'd be all for that but I think he'd be a but redundant now

I think we need more than three first-grade quality backrowers to be honest. Bukuya and Heighington(even Capewell) were pretty vital to the Sharks this year and they were behind a much better starting backrow(Gal/Lewis/Graham) than ours.

I would not be going all guns blazing for Fensom like I would have for Bird, but I am not as comfortable with our backrow stocks as a lot of others on this forum even though I'm a big fan of each of Sione/Barnett/Buhrer individually.

I would like to get another cut-price backrower. Not sure what Fensom would cost.

Then again there's a few positions I would like to strengthen.

Fullback and props. Doesn't mean you don't add quality players in any position if available given our position. Just a pity for us there are none available

I agree that we do however I don't think we need 3 80min defensive back rowers

We need impact now imo. I don't think Fensom fits that mold and I hear his asking price would be above what we'd consider cut-price. If he was willing to come here on a low deall I'd not complain but he certainly shouldn't be a priority target for us now

I am a big fan of Kurt Capewell and would love us to go after him. Toohey's column has linked us to Ken Sio. He is only 25 and has been exceelent in the super league so I am more than wiling to give him a go on a cheap contract

Would love to get Sio. A real winger in the squad. Always thought he was very underrated in his time in the NRL.

I doubt we're the only ones looking at him but I reckon he will come back to Aus.

Ken Sio would be a useful signing, he was good at the Eels so I was surprised when they let him go. It would mean we could push Ross to fullback and have Sio in his wing spot.

We've signed a Kiwi union player who has played three games of league so far. Got a cool afro but. He'll be in the 20s

We'll probably start getting excited about young kids from NZ when one of them actually pans out. We've been disappointed too many times on this and so many other issues that it all just feels like white noise to me now.

The fact that he chose to sign with Newcastle, and not one of the many other clubs chasing his signature, should be reason alone to be excited! More often than not we are one of those clubs missing out, so it's a nice change. Him having no knowledge at all of the NRL or clubs seems to have helped us a lot- he would have looked purely at the packages presented to him and judged them on their merit.

It's true that there's a good chance that his signing will amount to nothing, but he is young, raw and has more than enough time to learn the trade in the lower grades.
