I agree with what Brown did tbh. Different situation though as we were no chance of winning the competition but Cowboys are.

I still don't like how obvious Brown made it that Tapine wouldn't be a part of the 2016 season. He made it very easy for his manager and the RLPA to pressure the club into releasing him early without any benefit to the club.
If we kept Tapine we wouldn't of signed Barnett mid year.

Or we could have held on longer and gotten some form of compensation for giving them a quality junior, other than us getting nothing out of the whole situation. The only reason we got Barnett mid season was because Canberra needed to get Paulo into their squad.

Not to mention that we released Tariq on the 15th of June, 7 days after signing Barnett and Elliot. I doubt we would have struggled to get the funds together for Barnett. If worse came to worse Barnett would have been prioritised over Elliot, who is clearly not in the club's long term plans after the outside backs we have gone on to sign since.

Isn't Tapine on 500K plus per season?

If the papers are to be believed. We re-signed him during 2013 for a further 3 years, and he didn't go on to make his debut for the club until Round 9 2014. He would have been on an absolute minimum wage, so very little salary cap would have been freed up by releasing him early.

Agreed on that front

He did, very strong running, he is great at standing in tackles and driving out extra metres, then does the play the ball shuffle to get a few extra.

He was very good. Not sure why we would want him at the club at all really!

So 750K for Tamou and 500K plus for Tapine.

Tapine made how many hit ups tonight????

I don't believe we can get Matt Scott for the $$$ being thrown around. It's damn right insulting to him. No way he'll come that cheaply.

...and to those doubting the size of our debutant Yates...... please note the size and position Clay Priest played tonight.

Not sure if Ponga not getting a look in for FG is a good or bad thing for us. On one hand I want him to get as much FG experience as possible but on the other I don't want him to become such a mainstay that they find a way to get him out of his contract.

Its the size of the fight in the dog, not the size of the dog in the fight, lets hope Yates proves that to be the case. I'm really hoping all of the team have a red hot go tomorrow as the balance looks pretty good, but even the best Knights teams of the past have struggled in NZ. If the Knights can just hang in there & keep turning up the Kiwis have a serious history of losing the plot when the heat is on, just praying thats the case tomorrow!

I am happy for Green to continue shafting him. Worst-case scenario IMO is if Ponga starts loving it up there and regrets leaving.

It sucks that he's playing NYC- he is too good for that comp and you'd have to think that he'd get more benefit playing against grown men for one of the Cowboys' feeder clubs.

At leasy Brown drew a line in the sand with Tapine. We were never making the 8.

Not sure what game Green is playing but keeping Ponga in the Kids Club will not benefit his NRL side this season.

Zero chance of him getting out of the contract unless he wants to play rugby in Japan or France.

No doubt there, but Green is looking like a right twit keeping him out of first grade. His pre season form was scintillating, pretty clear he is keeping him out as he won't be there next year so why develop him.

Green is keeping Ponga there purely and simply in case Coote gets injured. Ponga at fullback, they are still contenders.

However while they have other decent wing or centre options I think it will take a lot of injuries there for him to get a run.

It's a good thing he's not playing wing, getting bashed taking hit ups early in the set. Total waste of his talent.
