Let’s all place our bets. Team and day it’s announced. For me, I reckon he’s off to manly, announced Thursday

He’s gone to an nrl team for a pre season training session for the past 2 years. Last year it was the eels and this year I reckon it’ll be the knights. That better not be his announcement haha

Yeah, if the media talk is to be at all believed then we're in a pretty good position here. If Pearce signs then it will complete the most impressive recruitment drive in the clubs history. I had my doubts on the patience approach to say the least, but I think if we get Pearce then it vindicates the strategy completely. Napa, while I do think he's a little over-rated and inconsistent, would be another good addition. We'd have a tremendously large pack, at least up front.

It's looking like we're in with a chance here, a week ago I would have assumed he was going straight to Manly no questions asked. But the longer it drags on the more likely we are to get him I feel.

The Sharks are a genuine threat as well because they've got a very established team and if he's looking for immediate success they've probably got a team capable of winning another comp in the next couple of years so I can understand if this is very tempting for Pearce.

But our trump card is that we already have several former Roosters players with us and we may even get Napa which would be massive. Also Pearce would be the most senior play maker by far and would basically get to run the team.

The fact that he's been up there to chat to Brown is an encouraging sign and his manager will sit down with the club this week to chat about an offer which is another good sign. Fingers crossed!

I also support the Newcastle Roosters.

It's weird to look through a potential starting 17 for next year as posted on the last page, and compare to what would have been our best 17 this year. Such huge upheaval.

THINK Mitchell Pearce isn’t seriously considering a move to Newcastle?

Think again.

It’s no secret rival players have been reaching out to Pearce.

Both Paul Gallen and Wade Graham have admitted to reaching out to the in-demand No.7 but it’s the call Pearce made himself which could prove the most telling.

He phoned Connor Watson to pick the brain of the Knights’ new recruit.
“I told him I love it. I obviously haven’t been here too long but from the time I’ve spent here and around training, it’s a good place and there’s a good vibe here.

“… It’s definitely a strong option.”

He obviously liked what he’d heard from his former teammate. Last Friday, Pearce met with the club in Newcastle.

Foxsports.com.au can reveal the inner details of their pitch.

Napa has game but has been inconsistent. Get him playing consistently to a level just below his explosive best every week and you have one hell of a front rower.
