For mine, Lillyman has been the same for years now. We all knew what he'd bring. We must bring in some talent to help Herman out a lot more and hope the twins improve over time.

I thought Lillyman played pretty well in the first few games. The last game I saw him play was against the storm and we had no ball for a long time from the initial kickoff. In that game both starting props made very little metres.

Whilst I’m in no way saying that we should re-sign him, I thought for a while there he was showing good speed for his age and was getting quick play the balls.

Exactly. Jason Nightingale has done his job for 10 plus years and Saints would never swap him. Rarely f**ks up and Sio is the same.

You should read our forum. Many of us including myself think Nightingale should have retired at the end of last year. Many of us want either Lomax or Mann there instead of Nightingale. Nightingale could be the slowest winger in the comp.

Nightingale is off contract at the end of the year. Would you like Newcastle to sign him for next year?

I'm really happy we're going for some star props to replace Lillyman. I'm actually a big fan of what Lillyman has brought to the team this season but we'll need an upgrade next year and the names we have been linked with seem solid. A rotation of Ese'ese, the Twins and one of the props we have been linked with seems like an awesome platform to build on.

When you said the twins, I thought that maybe Newy were chasing Tom and George Burgess, then I remembered you have the Saifiti brothers. lol

Ramien looks a very good prospect but do we really think we should get carried away with him, hope he turns out great but early days, he's only had a few games in 1sts.

Time to ease back, realise what we have for this season and unlikely to make additions to current squad 2018. We are currently doing ok if you think about how we have gone for past 3 seasons.
Let's buy some players for 2019 with the aim to moving on and up.
Likely and most suitable buys seem to be brothers Morris or Jennings, either would assist or fix our backline along with new guy Ramien. Only needs to be for a season or two, we will then attract others.
Forwards, plenty being suggested, Boyd, Napa, Pangia etc, all good, all the type we want and need, Lillyman and Heighinton probably gone, we lose 2 we need 3 to replace and enhance our squad.
And finally we need a good reliable goal kicker, if not one of the above then find him, but, BUT he must be a first grade footballer that can kick consistently well and then we have a top 4 team, spend the money and cull the players not performing.

Think you might be getting carried away a bit, Ramien has shown ability but not quite a Ponga, it would be nice if he was, I will admit my judgement error if so about this time next season

We need to be kicking goals, conversions that is, and we need some big bad front rowers. It won't happen this year but we must find them for next. Goal kicking is ordinary, being a great footballer doesn't automatically make you a good goal kicker, we haven't got a goal kicker with ability to consistently play 1sts, Lamb is the closest and next best kicker is Dark in u20's, otherwise nothing. So target should be 3-4 props/forwards with a centre/wing or 2 that can kick goals and if we don't re-sign Lamb with Cogger going we need to sign an experienced half, no not Hodko.

He’s already better than every other player in the club at that position and is keeping out a test player from the position at his current club. After only a few games in firsts too.
