Their age group team when I was playing junior footy was 1-17 the Hunter rep side. The Central Coast rep side I played in had a few former Val players who were being payed to play for Wyong.

Arguably the greatest junior RL club in the world.

... and the local soccer club has the council in their back pocket now, so the Devils are losing their home ground and facilities that their volunteers built so more little wuss bags can pretend to be shot.

it's absolute corruption.

Valentine junior.

Went to the Roosters then Penrith.

We should have the whole junior club on scholarship, the number of first graders out of there is absolutely absurd - their "all time" team would be 17 Kangaroos.

What sort of 'affiliation' currently exists between the Knights and junior clubs such as Valentine Mac?

Traditionally the Knights have provided funding to the Newcastle RL.

No links with individual clubs. And as can be seen any other club can swoop in and take our catchment players.

Woods = current Kangaroo and NSW SOO prop who churns out big mtrs, has an offload, is only 27 yrs old and Captained an NRL side, is one of the premier props in the game.

Knights = currently have at best, mostly bench players in our starting pack and reserve grade players on our bench

........ummmm give a minute to think about it....... :)

Blows the mind anyone is against it.

The alternative is literally... no one. It’s not like we are tossing up between Woods and Taupau.

exactly, its not as if there is a plethora of premium props coming off contract banging down our door.

If it works under Moonies projected cap payments in the years moving forward I'd pay full freight to get Woods ( if 750 K is accurate ) then chase a mean ass to add to the pack.

We need a forward with a bit of ball playing ability and x-factor about them. Our pack currently offers zero creativity.

If we do pick up Woods to go along with Glasby, does that give Ese'ese the opportunity to step up with a bit less pressure on him? Has he got any natural aggression in his game?

Herman has excellent leg speed, big motor, good footwork and he can pass.

Maybe more of that can come to the fore with a few more prop recruits but I don't think he'll be shortening too many up with massive hits and pure aggression.

Woods and the Great Gatsby are welcome additions to replace Lilly and Heighno. Our prop depth would be looking fairly good with those mentioned plus Herman and our 2 monsterous twins if they ever develop into what we need.

We still require a Tapou or TPJ or a big loose cannon from somewhere to compliment that lot.

With the strength of our back row and Sione returning to the position next year, it might be time to beef up Barnett an extra 5kg or so. He's about 6'2", so not completely out of the realms of possibility to add the weight to his sized frame.

Why are we still shuffling the team around to find a spot for Sione?
Sigh

He struggles to keep the weight he has. No chance of more without raiding Gallen’s Medicine cabinet

On second thought, Woods would be a terrible signing- it's clear the team are coached to not support the ball runner looking for offloads or short passes.

What is up with that? How easy is it for opposition teams to pick out the one guy will everyone knows will get the ball. We need support runners and forwards running better lines.

Coaches always go on about getting the defence in order before worry about attack. Maybe Brown is waiting for us to really tighten our defence and only concede 27 points per game before he starts to coach that aspect of the game.
