Sounds like you guys have Luke, some ups (was great largely this season, his running game is still good) and downs (multi year deal, shoulder concerns, iffy attitude, inconsistent). Not sure he'll be value for money, but an easy upgrade on Levi.

Lino, he's solid. Wouldn't want him as a regular for the warriors, but should give you some depth and options by Pearce. He is contracted to the warriors next year, but can see us releasing him. We have a couple young guys pushing through and he won't ever be a first choice here.

Sio likely to stay. Dennis rejected an offer but still in talks.

Sio is a great back up, happy to have him stay.

Dennis should accept the money he was offered , whatever that was. He's a minimum NRL wage earner and thats it. Wouldnt have played first grade at all if he wasnt with the Knights during our darkest days. Only young and has potential but I wouldnt break the bank for him. Cant keep them all.

• Issac Luke

"It looks to be a done deal that the Kiwi international will return to Australia to join the Newcastle Knights in 2019 after three seasons with the Warriors.

He has met with Nathan Brown and it is understood the Warriors will not have the cash to match the offer being tabled by the Novocastrians.

At 31 years of age, the off-contract premiership winner still has plenty to offer, and he was one of the major reasons the Warriors made their first finals appearance since 2011."

• Tevita Pangai Junior

"Up to five clubs are reportedly chasing the off-contract 22-year-old’s signature, and while he insists he’ll stay loyal to the Broncos, the Red Hill club may not be able to compete with the huge offers expected to roll in from clubs like the Knights.

They have already spent big to retain Matt Gillett, Jamayne Isaako, Payne Haas, David Fifita and Jaydn Su’a, and the powerhouse Tongan international would command at least $800,000 a year.

Also in the Knights’ favour is that Pangai Jnr was a local junior."

.... don't know about the above mentioned Broncs deals but they have spent up massively on Boyd, Milford and Bird too.

Can't have anything left to spend on Tevita considering McGuire, Lodge, McCullough, Roberts and Oates need to earn a few dollars as well - 4 origin reps in that lot too.

Wonder if the salary cap auditer is smelling something off up there yet?

Good to see 3 Knights recruits playing in a Prelim final tonight.

Hope they all play well and get through unscathed.

Has the NRL ever actually caught a team cheating the cap themselves, without a whistle blower or the club self reporting?

Donkeys are okay.
Boyd isn’t on much coin.
The Donkeys were the only team looking to sign a 30 year old with dodgy hamstrings to 4 years.
Milford and Bird are both on good coin though.
Then the rest of the spine Nikorima and McCullough aren’t on good money.
Yes McCullough played origin this year but he’s one of the worst 9s in the comp.
Roberts was re-signed last year before he played origin and the donkeys aren’t getting into bidding war to re-sign Oates.
Lodge signed for minimum and they are only offering 1 year deal for next season.

Your highly insightful post did not mention how much Boyd, Roberts, Lodge and McCullough are on next season.

Please, do tell us all how little each is on next season.

No. And with the current brains trust at the NRL and the lack of balls when negotiating the last CBA with the RLPA, they never will.

On a positive note, we will finally have a decent centre on the books next season. Ramien was very good last night, even on one leg.

It has been a long, long time since we've had a centre of his quality.
