Clifford’s bombs make it a priority we sign backs with height and ability to get aerial. What a weapon if we can perfect our chase on those.

I understand that Lee is injury prone or at least slow in recovery and what games he has played have been good, time to move on, he is obviously not what coach and others want, but replace him with someone that will compete

Hynes has all the hallmarks of someone who would be bog-average once he's outside the Melbourne system. Although even that is better than most of the options we currently have.

That would be my fear also. That combined with it not being a position of need and I'd hope we wouldn't get into any sort of bidding war for him.

Clifford put in some great kicks and his chase was spot on. He chased his own kicks hard and also won a great bomb over Walsh as well. He is heads and shoulders above Mann as a half.

Don't get the Hynes talk, for better or worse we have our first grade halves for 2022 in Pearce and Clifford.

I also hope Hodgson is the freak he has been described as and we end up with the nice problem of too many spine players and not enough spots. Rather than the other way round like the last however many years.

I don’t think we need Hynes. He looks good at Melbourne but it’s common for guys to look good there and never replicate it elsewhere. Besides with Pearce, Clifford and Crossland on board next year I don’t think we need another half unless they were a significant upgrade on any of those three.

Such a shame that Lee has been so injury prone. He’s been really good for us on the field when he’s actually played but he’s had long stints on the sideline in each of his 3 seasons here so far so I can see why they’re happy to let him go.

I know that we tend to do our recruiting behind closed doors these days but I hope we’re chasing a few outside backs, we really need some consistent contributors who can at least defend.

I find it strange the Cowboys have agreed to this given how well he is playing. Great news for us.

They have Dearden for next year.... So any chance to get him early and stop spending resources developing a player who is leaving next year is a wise move

Like, Crossland had signed with some else next year, and we were getting Clifford.... It would be in our best interest to let him go 6 months early

I’m kinda feeling bad for Clifford given how we are performing compared to the Cowboys at the moment.
