He’s been playing 7 for cowboys, but is he a natural organiser? With his running game, you’d think he’d be better paired with Crossland in the halves. Get a bad feeling he’ll be with Mann though until Pearce returns.

Seems to be more of an organiser than Drinkwater at the cowboys who is a very skillful player but at times runs around like a chicken with his head cut off. Clifford's kicking game both long and short has been really good since his recall, his big torpedo bombs always seem to give the opposition fullback alot of trouble.

Wouldn't call him a natural organiser but he can do the job. His running game is his strength and has a very good boot

He has good size too. Could shift to lock if needed imo

Don't get the Hynes talk, for better or worse we have our first grade halves for 2022 in Pearce and Clifford.

I also hope Hodgson is the freak he has been described as and we end up with the nice problem of too many spine players and not enough spots. Rather than the other way round like the last however many years.

im very hopeful that Hodgson turns out to be as good as people are making him out to be, if so, I’d run with:

1. Hodgson
6. Ponga
7. Clifford

Clifford will play 5/8 when Pearce is available so let him be that from start, leave Crossland at 7 until Pearce is back.
Next season will be Pearce 7, Clifford 6 so why chop and change and Crossland is backup.
For those Mann lovers LOL he can play right centre.
For those Ponga to 5/8 lovers let’s see how Hodgson goes and maybe look to 2023 for 1 Hodgson, 6 Ponga, 7 Clifford and 9 Brailey.
Me I’m just looking for an improvement this and further next season

Well, when you're trying hard to sign a polarising Broncos player who previously transgressed the laws of society, it make sense to try and sign a polarising former coach who transgressed the laws of professional sport.

Also not sure we'll have to worry about slotting Ponga into our spine in future years. Would be very surprised of we hang on to him for the full duration of the contract.
Fingers crossed for Hodgson...

How many coaches do we need?
It wasn't that long ago that there'd be as assistant coach only that was the main reserves coach with some specialist skills contracted out.
It's gotten ridiculous.

Would love to see a halves pairing of Ponga and Clifford. Even if Hodgson doesn't work out, let's get a Matt Dufty or something and run with 6.Ponga and 7.Clifford
