It better not be. He's already one of, if not the highest paid player now.

We have a great opportunity to build strongly around him and if he wants to win a comp that's what we need to do.

The talk has been around him waiting to see if we have a team capable of challenging for the title before he commits the further two years.

If he takes a dollar more to stay here, it will only weaken the team and show that it’s about the money, not winning titles.

I didn’t like the way he responded to Fittler last week on Channel 9. Fittler asked if he was going to re-sign with the Knights. Ponga trotted out a whole lot of “I don’t think that far ahead, I leave all that to my manager” garbage.

I’m a big Ponga fan and hope we keep him but it was pretty offputting. A couple of months ago he was throwing out the “I love this group of lads and want to win a comp with them” instead.

to be fair i think we all kind of knew Ponga wasn't going to commit until he had a firm idea where we were at as a club. Obviously the way we started the season (leaving aside Barnett's brain explosion today) is a positive sign as is the investment in coaching staff and facilities.

Bennett has been quoted, as nauseum, that it is vital the Dolphins are very careful to recruit only players who are of the highest quality off the field. Culture is above all else.
