Honestly it should be encouraging for us on some level. If the latest reports are true, he's poised to knock back the highest money offer and commit long term. It's what we've been asking for as fans (most of us) - and if it pans out that way, well, we're getting what we asked for.

Reading between the lines it kinda sounds like Kalyn was approaching a decision to re-sign with us - and in a last ditch effort Bennett and the crew have come down to try and convince him otherwise... and it sounds like he was unconvinced. Again - this is what we would have wanted from him had he not put in that stinker against the Sharks. We would have been very happy with this news 7 days ago.

So it comes down to the on-field stuff, really. It's time for Kalyn to stand up on the field and just get it done.

Pretty much

The contract talks being dragged out in the media, his injuries in the 1st 4 rounds and his awful game on friday have all compounded for an already jaded fan base and its lead to the collective "well just bugger off then" attitude from us all.

If hes truly injured and distracted then i hope he is rested and given the time he needs to get back to his destructive best. Its in his and the coaching staffs hands now

If Ponga doesn't kick on, we're going to be underwater with a huge $1.2m deadweight captain. Pretty scary situation to be in...

On SEN this morning, Kikau’s contract still hasn’t been registered yet as the Bulldogs don’t have the cap space.
Thoughts girls?
Postives - Gun ( in the right team ) is what we need on our edge
Negatives - for hire mercenary, doesnt fill the glaring leadership void we have in the team ( but who does ?) - would cost too much money

Thoughts? They have got to be happy about that.
It never sat right his contract given the players they have recently acquired. I mean JAC and Burton alone is some coin. Add TPJ on big money and it did not add up. Flanno is on nearly 500 k a season. Easily their best halfback and Barrett thinks by playing hardball he will miraculously quit and free up the money. Kyle was on fire at the Sharks. He felt loyal to his Dad and left to his detriment. He is very much like a certain number 6 who
Played for us and was great til he played Origin. Not all kids react the same to being told they are not good enough for a club. Roosters went out of their way to get him. I don’t know if any of you blokes have teenage boys or not but when they hit 19 or 20 they are very vulnerable to what people think of them.

TLDR
All I got from that you rate Shane Flanno’s son Lol
That would surprise noone. Cos it is more the idea a young half being asked to carry a burden he is not ready for and the club not accepting their end of the bargain. Their reasoning that he could not take on the line and ease the pressure on Keary is something many halves in This comp could be accused of.

Roosters never saw Kyle as their long term 7.
He was only warming the seat until Walker was ready.
I put Kyle in the same class as someone like Sean O’Sullivan.
In the right systems like Melbourne/Penrith they can do a job as the backup half.
He was never going to succeed at the Bulldogs.
Even Burton is struggling over there at atm.

I still want us to jump on the Nanai train. He only resigned a year. Surely he would be willing to take 800k from us over the Tigers?

yep, this intimate caring and connection with the players from Robinson or Bennett etc is all bullshit. They know what side their bread's buttered on and the facade is all part of the game ( job)

Get Flannagan to warm the seat is correct

Same with Watson , Robinson sold him the fairtale and he now has a decent depth player.

it's borderline insane, the pressure on young people today, particularly image, is crazy.

I read the other day the number 1 drug used by young men in Australia is testosterone. I'd never even heard of that when I was a kid.

Apparently testosterone is down across males quite significantly and continues to drop each year..

According to NRL360, that’s what Bennett was selling to Ponga.
Either keep coasting at Newcastle or take your game to another level at the Dolphins.
Such a load of crap sales pitch that, if guys believe it, will take it up.

Take your game to another level at the Dolphins and if we don’t win anything after 2 years leave because it’s too hard.
The Wayne Bennett philosophy.

We have been paying millions every year for a team that has no chance of winning a comp since Joey left. In the big scheme it doesn't matter, they will still pay millions every year to field a team who has no chance.

I'd mentioned in another post, I read an interview with Korbin Simms and Bennett's pitch to him was " stop social loafing down in Newcastle and challenge yourself " , not surprised he's using the same pitch to Ponga.
