DOLPHINS UP BID TO POACH KNIGHTS STAR
The Dolphins reportedly have upped their offer for Knights star Anthony Milford in a bid to trump a three-year extension offer from Newcastle.
The Daily Telegraph reported the Dolphins, who initially offered Milford a one year deal for 2023, are now willing to put two years on the table to try band lure the five-eighth away from the Knights.
Milford is torn between returning home to Queensland and repaying the faith the Knights put in him after he was let go by Souths while fighting charges in court, that he has since been cleared of any wrong doing.
The Knights were considered to be in the driving seat for Milford’s signature with the extra security of a three year deal.
However, the Dolphins revised two year offer could be enough to sway Milford to return to Queensland to work under his former Broncos coach Wayne Bennett.
Bennett has shown a keen interest in reuniting with Milford after their strong relationship from their time together at Brisbane.
The 27-year-old has scored 70 tries and 369 points in 198 NRL games for the Raiders, Broncos and Knights since his debut in 2013 and has played two origins for the Maroons and eight Tests for Samoa.
