Klemmers game has its issues, especially at the price we're paying, but we literally have no other decent metre eater right now. It would have been absolute lunacy to let him go when the spoon is a real possibility.

Klemmer is a funny one. Looks good on the field, but does collect a paycheque above his contribution, and is clearly an ass to coach.

Any guesses what the issue is? I’m going to guess that he was unhappy about being interchanged before half time and gave a mouthful to the coach/trainer/assistant/whoever.

We can all agree that Klemmer always puts in every game, thats not in dispute here, something that most of the rest of the team doesn't do.

I'd say there is something off field that rubs people the wrong way. What that is exactly i don't know, but it is something that's resulted in him no longer getting a look in for the blues and from the outside looking in, the knights have had enough of it.

The fact he has been stood down and given a show cause notice suggests that he will no longer be at the club next season to me. That is partly the club now possibly wanting to off load him due to his reported high salary and also Klemmer himself wanting to leave, based on the reports that he wanted a longer deal from Parra if he went on a loan deal. Before you say don't believe what you read and Klemmer denied it, of course he would deny it cause it didn't work out.

Interesting times ahead

Don’t pretend to know what the motive behind this is but it feels like the club are trying to shift him. Is this a compete overreaction by the club?

If he has ignored direction from - and abused - management of the club - Hayden Knowles, not just any old trainer - then maybe they are.

I know he’s passionate and busts his arse on the field, however his role in the club is bigger than that. He is influential, he is a leader. He’s there to help develop the next batch of forwards in the club. If he isn’t doing that, he might be better off elsewhere.

I hope the club and Klem sort things out.

I suspected it was Knowles before I even read it based on the show cause notice. Perhaps the club has been told by Hayden he is off if it is not dealt with. Not like he’ll struggle for a start elsewhere.

I think the timing of all this makes the club look bad.

IF Klemmer has done something pretty ordinary then I would commend the club on taking a stance and not tolerating any crap.

It just seems so odd, 24-hours after they had lengthy discussions to loan him out to Parra, and then to announce this AFTER he was left out of today's team line-up announcement.

To me it sounds like yesterday's discussions went sour and this is the fallout.

During the game, heat of moment, losing to the ex, losing to the previous worst team in the comp, no one else on the team trying at all. I totally get it why Klemmer lost it and blew up.

Gagai also blew up and got ten in the bin a couple of weeks ago. Seems like a running theme.

AOB has to go.

Which came first though?
Maybe the Show Cause was issued before Klem entertained other options.
For sure offers would be prevalent but you don't need to engage them.

So senior players get to act however they want without any ramifications on them?

When did I say no ramifications? I said I totally get why he blew up.
You said that two senior players weren’t acting like senior players, and then said the coach has to go.

That’s it. Culture runs deeper than the head coach. Just seemed a bit of a cop out to me.

I think we’re also forgetting that we need a backup hooker desperately. If Brailey goes down injured again (definitely not out of the question) then we simply can’t have Randle being the first choice fill in again. It’s a shame Watson left, he always did a pretty decent job when playing hooker.

Gagai spent a few seasons ‘blowing up’ at the refs every time he got tackled when at Souths. Along with Walker and Mitchell, he got use to giving refs a serve ad nauseum and it became part of his game.

That sin bin he was given a few weeks ago for what he said to the ref was a long, long time coming. He might realise now he can’t wear a Knights jersey and get away with the crap he can carry on with. Our players actually get penalised for that rubbish.

As for Klemmer, it’s a bit strange for the coach to want to interchange him with 9 mins to go. O’Briens use of the bench is somewhat ‘unique’ in the NRL. It’s pretty obvious he’s had enough of the joint.

Jayden Berrell from Cronulla would be my choice if we were to look outside the club

2021 Qcup player of the year and was outstanding in the GF for Wynnum
