I get the feeling AOB is like Madge McGuire. Players just don't like him because he's all mouth and no substance. It's like your boss at work screaming at you, telling you how to do a job that he has no idea how to do himself. How can they be expected to have respect for him?

My interpretation of everything above is that rightly or wrongly, Klemmer isn't going to be here much longer. Unfortunately that seems to be a different issue entirely to the safety of AOB's position.

So... theoretically is there any available players out there that would give a similar output to Klemmer but for a couple 100k less?

I think he’ll be at the club next year. I suspect they are using this to pull him into line somewhat.

i don't think he will be, partly because i think the club has decided they want to get ride of him, possibly predominately for salary reasons and if your Klemmer, why would you want to stay at a club that has treated you like this after all the effort you have put in

If they are using this a way to bring him into line, it is a very dangerous tactic as it will put alot of the squad offside with the club.

Also something no one has considered is how it looks to the rest of the comp and our ability to buy players. How much harder is it going to be to attract players when they see how we treat our own. Its Kirk Reynoldson all over again

We are about to redifine the bottom of the barrell. Don't know how we are going to get out of this mess as it seems to be getting worse every day

This is a very good point. A few years ago the Knights were in the top 5 clubs players wanted to sign with when surveyed. We'd have to be close to the bottom at the moment.

Treated him like this? Respect works both ways - Klem hasn’t shown much respect for members of staff or the game plan either.

NRL 360 made a really good point around the speed of his play the ball last night - that fight for an extra metre that takes 5 seconds to complete, but allows the defensive line to reset and stifles any momentum built falls on him. He isn’t respecting his peers by adapting to the game the team needs to play.

And that is a problem that’s been raised here in the past. It’s not new.

Don’t compare Klem to Reyno - Reyno was an overpaid spud. Klem is a leader that needs to act like one.

The NRL 360 crew also said that was Klem did happens every weekend and is being blown totally out of proportion.

Just another case of the boss missing the mark on football matters unfortunately.

not comparing the ability between the two of them, Klemmer clearly is a better player. I was comparing the way the club treated both players as all other players will be watching this situation

It is funny how most on here carry on about all the Klemmer gets us, but now most are complaining about his slow play the ball. He has always played like that even at the Dogs, its not new, but now is a problem cause NRL360 said it is.

Will they? Klem seems to be a take-him-or-leave-him kinda guy. I’m not sure that is what is going to hinder recruitment.

If he is hindering the attacking play just to rack up his own personal metres, it’s a problem. If he is taking more runs than planned, that’s a problem.

He is running is own race in a team event. Not coming off the field, abusing staff, his management trying to negotiate a contract with Parramatta prior to November 1. You can see why the club needs to draw a line in the sand.

This is all part of the culture problem.

GOOD KNIGHT FOR ENGLISH YOUNG GUNS

Struggling Newcastle have won the battle for the British Sonny Bill Williams and one of England’s most promising playmakers.

Sport Confidential understands the Knights have secured the services of Wigan back-row sensation Kai Pearce-Paul and Huddersfield halfback whizkid Will Pryce.

The 19-year-old Pryce is the son of former 24-Test England star Leon, while the 21-year-old Pearce-Paul is regarded as one of the most dynamic ball-running forwards in Super League with a style similar to NRL legend Sonny Bill.

The Knights are keeping quiet on the recruitment drive because the duo are contracted to their respective English clubs for next season, but Newcastle have Pearce-Paul and Pryce on their books for 2024.

Newcastle have made subtle inquiries about having Pearce-Paul and Pryce in Knights colours next season, but Wigan and Huddersfield are reluctant to agree to an early release for the rising stars.

From the Courier Mail's Sport Confidential. Few months late but the non-Newcastle media is finally catching on.

Also mentions the Knights as one of the clubs eyeing off Scott Drinkwater, and Jock Madden's manager named us as one of the clubs who have shown interest.

If all four are wearing red and blue in 2023/2024 that would be a smart and not overly expensive recruitment drive. Pryce and Drinkwater give us so many options.

The article speculates that he Drinkwater could get offers of $700k, which seems a tad high because it probably is. He's still under-contract next season as well but Cows may be open to letting him go with a few big money players already on the books, Nanai needing a new contract, and Tabuai-Fidow a cheaper option waiting for a shot.

Give Ponga & Drinkwater a competent game plan and they will get you points. Hastings would be a good fit at halfback in that scenario, with Madden being a cheaper and more realistic option too. Part of me would like to see the all-out attacking chaos of a 1/6/7 of Ponga, Drinkwater & Pryce in any order, but the long kicking game would be a huge concern.

No Luke Brooks, please.

Drinkwater as the main playmaker with Pryce running riot wider on one side of the ruck and KP the other with Hastings at lock would be…….. Please just make it happen. So any option and combos to try until it works. Even Madden could play 14.

I think Pryce will be a weapon as a running 5/8th in the Dylan Brown mould under the right coach, with Pryce at 5/8th you'd probably want a steady, organising half like Madden who can just focus kicking well and steering the side around. I think Madden would be a wise signing in any case as at worse he can be a decent back up with room for improvement
