Smh reporting Bennett has enquired about a swap for Hastings with Illias

What’s the deal with Ilias? He was really good in his first proper year of NRL then his form fell off a cliff after that, then he was dropped and Souths continued to go poorly which suggests that he may not have been the issue. Then did he get injured in reserve grade or something?

He’s a fair bit younger than Hastings and potentially it’s a case of him needing to go to a new club to find his mojo again but yeah I’d have a hard time getting excited about it if it did happen.

I think he has a bit of Luke Brooks syndrome. Looks the part, has a bit of a habit of ALMOST doing something good then messing up, or coming up with the wrong options at the worst times.

That being said, Souths got worse after they dropped him, not better.

AOB would probably pick him immediately because he’s oddly good for a halfback defensively and he’d stick by him too I’d imagine. Do we want that? I don’t know

He broke his tibia in reserve grade yeah.

Halfbacks typically take years to hone their craft, I feel like Ilias was the scapegoat for all the bigger issues at play at souffs
