I'm actually not sure what Sharpe is capable of yet. He's had a meteoric rise through the grades and just seems to make a winner out of everything he does. A part of me is concerned that he's ultimately an unproven youngster - and we've seen many, many kids explode onto the scene and then fizzle.

Geez he's looked good at everything he does though. You really want to be optimistic and just say this kid is just a footy player. He might be able to do it, I dunno.

I reckon AOB had a front row seat to Jahrome Hughes developing and maybe thinks Sharpe could do the same. It's a tall order, but as you said, he has looked a winner at everything he has touched. If he is tough enough and vocal enough, he seems to have the skills.

AOB had us playing the most negative footy I've ever seen. For a long time we had the most one out carries and now we don't even challenge kicks for some reason. Even though we get results in the rare case we do challenge. The era of winning 10-4 is over. Stuck in an old mindset with no attacking tactical knowhow.

I think the difference between Sharpe and some of the others that have fizzled is that I think a lot of us rate him so highly based on what we saw in FG. I always knew he was highly rated as a junior, but he wasn’t one that you saw very hyped or overrated by the time he reached FG.

I’m still not sure I see him in the halves tbh. I think his natural game is better suited in the backline and I hope it’s not a case of us trying to fit a square peg into a round hole because we need a half. Apparently AOB was the one responsible for moving Hughes to 7 though, so maybe he thinks he can repeat it. Time will tell I guess.

When it’s said Sharpe played in the halves in the juniors, does anyone here have any first-hand exposure to it? Any knowledge of what his skill set relevant to those positions were/are?

I think it's a bit of the chicken or the egg. If we get a Premiership level coach, the players will follow. If we can put together the roster first, I'm sure a high level coach will want a crack. We brought in POS so I'm assuming we are going with approach 2. Hopefully it works out soon because Ponga isn't going to be in his prime forever.

Coming 10th to 15th sux but limping out round 1 of the finals every season isn't much better.

We had Bennett and how many "Premiership winning players" did he attract? The two "stars" he did bring were arguably two of the worst ever to pull on a Knights jumper. He ruined our team for a decade and took the cash and ran. You are delusional.

Fletcher Sharpe evolving into a gun half will put all criticism of AOB to sleep for a while at least. And also back the club’s belief in him. It has been a frustrating journey at times but there is no denying he has brought some talented kids through. And more importantly kept them. So they obviously believe in him. It takes a lot is courage to park a 800 k player in cup. There was a time not long ago that would never have been allowed no matter how we were travelling.
