2.7, Ponga is on around 1.4m

I don't get why people are getting so mindblown about this. There's going to be a lot of young halves getting this sort of money soon. The length of the deal is the headline, not the amount.

It's not uncommon for a team to tie up a lot of their cap on 2 or 3 key spine players. Why is everyone so surprised when we do it?
Funny how people question when some teams buy a player on big dollars when you have Broncos with Reynolds, Walsh, Haas and Hunt, Storm with Hughes, Grant, Muster, and Paps, Manly with DCE, Turbo, Brooks, not even mentioning the Roosters.

It will be the same when BA arrives, good luck to u guys, but we have a war chest now to sign players who want to play, as a newbie fan I’d be concerned he has signed for nothing but the cash, like many others i guess, but 10 years

Ponga signed on for nothing but cash initially too. That worked out pretty well for us.

Can’t wait to see ponga killing at roosters or in union
Brown is Hastings 2.0 but on the biggest contract ever

he ain’t worth half the money of Cleary or Moses
Jesus, the spite, lol. Relax my guy everything is going to be ok.

Yep, no-one bats an eyelid. We literally try to have 2 class players in our spine and the league world collectively has a meltdown, lol.

I'd just like to point out as well - that this is a very calculated move by the club. There are more new teams coming to the NRL over the span of that contract. Quality halves are already worth their weight in gold - and the market is actually going to get *worse* as that contract ages. That is the calculation the club is making.

For what it's also worth, Dylan Brown is collectively understood to have had a "shit" year last year - and he did, his team nearly got the spoon.

Yet in this shit year from him, he still has a longer highlight reel in a single year than all 4 of our halves have in their entire careers combined. He improves our team, he's a talented player. He also doesn't have to be the main man here. We have a main man here, he just doesn't have a 7 on his back - and I reckon Sharpe is going to be asserting himself on this team rather quickly too.

Has anyone at the Knights actually said we want him to play halfback? There seems to be all this talk of it from various pundits (BiaB podcast seems to think that’s what’s what’s happening, among others) but I can’t recall a single thing said by the actual club to this effect. So just because we sign Brown doesn’t mean we’re not on the lookout for at least a solid halfback to get the team around the park.

if they’ve decided that Sharpe is the guy at 5/8 for long term then ok sure, but even he’s still unproven at the position yet.

I'm just not 100% convinced yet that we’re wanting Brown to be a 7.

U also don’t have to worry about 10 day cooling off period, both parties have already agreed to part ways, Parra encouraged him to take the deal, wish u the best, if he starts playing to his potential u have a good player, I also believe newie fans are all heart, and a fantastic supporter base
