Yeah, Fitz won't be coming back.

Apparently already have 26 signed for 2026 assuming everyone takes up their options, this is from Newcastle Knights Juniors on insta and they always seem to have the mail on contracts.

That 26 is with Elliott, Hetho, KPP and Tyrone Thompson without deals yet too...

I'm not convinced any of those you've named at the end will be re-signed. Will be replaced with one or maybe 2 recruits, and the rest from within.

Given AOB said in his presser he was very close to debuting Tyrone this week I'd be absolutely shocked if we weren't trying to extend him. Especially as the 2026 pack looks something like the following as it stands:

JSaf
Crossland
Jones
Lucas
McEwen
Friz

Arthur
Croker
Cant
Hopgood/ESL/Sullivan

Kpp and Tyrone will definitely be resigned
I need to see more from kpp this year to be excited about that. I don't hate him by any stretch, he's just feeling like bad value. Tyrone, no idea but he looked miles off firsts in the trials, very slow, so I'm surprised he's so close to getting picked.

KPP is reportedly on 700K + in the ballpark of Crichton and Martin. Can't see him being re-signed for anything remotely near that figure - he's likely gone.

If Elliot and Hetherington were wanted they'd have been extended last year. That both have been available since November and no club in the NRL has signed them says a lot.

Funnily enough I thought he looked like a Leo clone, just without the fitness base. And probably at least 500k cheaper
I mean he's his twin so yes. Without the fitness base seems like a bit of an understatement to me. We don't often debut blokes who aren't ready these days though so I guess there's more there than what I saw.

And I mean if he is that close to firsts then that's a great thing. We need another middle or two to put their hands up.

What about the Hopgood kid I've read about? Would he be able to debut next year? or nowhere near NRL ready.

Sully did mention Will Sullivan "“He is a junior Queensland representative player, who will challenge for NRL spots at some stage throughout the year"

Sullivan, Hopgood and Tyrone

He had played a 20-25 minute stint in the first half of the reserve grade trial, considering he wouldn't get on the field until near the end of the NRL trial if he was still out on his feet then I'm not sure what he'd been doing all preseason. Think it's clear as day he has a fair bit of work to do to be compared to Leo physically and that's before considering he still needs to learn the game and develop a whole new skillset. Looks like he's running in mud so far.

AOB said he was close to giving him a debut "if he had played more rugby league" which seems like a pretty significant qualifier to include. He was named on the extended bench because there was literally no other forwards eligible.

He could definitely debut next year, or even this year, but it’s going to be a good few years before he’ll be ready to do more than 20-30 mins off the bench.

Hopwood*. I feel like we're going to have another "Crosslands" situation with this kids name. He'll be there or there abouts. I'd say if he develops well this year in reserve grade then he'll get a sniff at the backend of the year so he knows what he has to get done next pre-season.

Or that 5/8 Henry Mullins.

Yeh tough position for a young fella. At 20-30 minutes that's Hetherington's input so far this year.

*Hopewood:), Sullivan, Bryan, Tyrone, Sullivan, Jones, Jsaf.

What about Bryan then? any good?

Manuleleua is 2nd row but looks everything like a Spencer Leniu type player.

No doubt thin on experience up-front. Could be in Hetherington's favor.
