Rumoured Targets 3

Just on the props thing, 3 of the 4 NSW props this year had strong links to the Hunter and but for sliding doors moments could all have been playing for us.

Just the gift that keeps on giving.
Yeah it's funny. People will sit around all day and point to all the reasons here, there and everywhere. At the end of the day though, we are remarkably consistent at taking the darker of 2 paths in those sliding doors moments.

Sounds like we're paying a small amount for Dom this year and then 500k for the next 2 years. Which funnily enough was our original offer to him.

Happy to have him back in an area of need for us. Now to get him back to playing like the player that warranted that bidding war in the first place.

There's no way we're paying Dom 500k for the next 2 years. Surely not.
I'm wondering if we're not somehow paying him some of it this year out of our cap so that we can pay him less the next 2. Only thing that makes sense to me - and the only reason I can imagine for our stipulation that we'll only take him back if it includes this year too.

you're right, paying him 500k off the back of his last 18 months too far too much.

Rothfield’s explanation of the Dom situation:

- He’s owed $200k for the rest of this season and then $500k per year in 2026 and 2027
- Knights want the Roosters to cover that $200k in exchange for him being off their books completely from next year
- Knights would then front load him an additional $200k this year so they’d then be paying $400k per year in 2026 and 2027
This still seems completely plausible and would explain why all the reporting has been so adamant that the Knights want him before June 30 or not at all. Toohey reiterated that part in his own article today.

The sticking point was the Roosters apparently not wanting to pay a cent, but seems like a compromise has been reached (the article today says they'll be covering a large chunk of his salary this season). Would assume the plan on front loading some of his salary for the remaining 2 years is still in place.

Chammas saying Dom young is a done deal…..fill be here for dolphins game

roosters want to keep him so they can play him in rd15 when they will be missing origin players

“Coincidentally” that match is rooster vs knights
Surely they won’t play him against us? That would be crazy.
What will be his motivation to make tackles and catch a ball?
If he plays shit he helps the team he will be at next week.

I’m a bit worried about that tbh. Bullemor’s talent has never been in question, on all that pre-season testing the high performance staff do at clubs he’s off the charts… but what it’s translated to in his career is a guy who looks like dynamite off the bench against tired defenders but has never been much chop as a starting middle…

… until this year. Contract year. And not just a contract year, he’s looked to have gone up a level within this season, right when (according to Toohey) POS is in contact with his management and there’s a bit of back and forth about the price. So he’s playing career best footy while he’s in the shop window.

By no means saying it’d be a bad signing, just from a talent/athleticism standpoint alone he’s an upgrade on every experienced middle we’ve got except J Saf. Just a bit worried that we’ll bring him in and… well, if you look at the attached image, I’ve circled the contract years:

But, on the flip side: He’s 25, and not to get all racial eugenics in here, but white middle forwards very frequently peak between 27-31 (whereas it feels like heaps of the Islander lads peak way younger and then it’s a question of how long they maintain it), so it could be a great signing, too. Could absolutely go either way.

Listed player heights and weights are malarkey. You honestly might as well guess.

They usually are reasonably believable.

I would have guessed 6'1 and 100 at best for him, but photos of him next to Turbo show them about the same height, so it makes sense.

He could be bench relieving JSaf, doesn’t have to be a starter, that way we have 1 top prop on field whole game, just have to make sure next one is a starter.

Yeah I don’t mind if he’s on the bench, we need guys to come on the field and have an impact. We don’t really have much impact from the bench atm.
