Jensen sucks. The answer to a question no one asked, "What if a stat padder couldn't even put up good stats?"

I'd take RFM if it's a cheap deal specifically to protect whatever young second rower we're bringing into the team next year from the opening 20-30 minutes of games.

we already have our Jensen and RFM in Heatho and Elliott. And we are getting rid of both.

Jensen is exactly what we need. Cheap, solid and reliable. How you call him a stat padder is beyond me when the guy does the 1% every game. He's massively undervalued in that Brisbane pack. He's averaging over 100m, 30 tackles with 1 miss per game off the bench. Just because hes not Haas or Carrigan doesn't make him bad.

Yes Jensen is exactly like Heatho.....without the penalties, stupid errors and low workrate. They could almost be twins

Jensen wasn’t far off being selected for Origin last year and perhaps Billy will come to regret that non-selection given how QLD have been going.

I definitely don’t think he’s a stats padder. He’s a no-nonsense prop who runs it pretty hard and gets through his work in defence. Given he’s playing off the bench right now I don’t think it’d cost us an arm and a leg to get him either.

He’d be a good guy to start with JSaf imo, get us off to a good start in the opening 25-30 mins then you could bring a guy like Bullemor on to have an impact as the fatigue sets into the game.

Jensen is one of the many Broncos players who don’t do the 1%ers, that’s a big part of why they’re bad despite how easily Haas and Carrigan get them rolling. Every forward who plays with those two looks better than they really are and most of them still don’t look good anyway. Keenan Palasia looked great there and then couldn’t consistently crack the Titans rotation, and is now in the Super League.

Unless it’s Haas himself, or Carrigan, or Willison who at least has a lot of talent, I would avoid signing any Broncos forward like they’ve got the plague.

Anyway I worry a bit about Bullemor's contract year form spike but at least he's actually good, and has the potential to be great. Let's go with that.

RFM definitely is not good at all now, but for a pie and can of coke, just so we're not throwing guys like McEwen or Manulelua who I don't think are ready for full games of first grade to the wolves - sure, whatever.

I don't think Jensen would be near a minimum wage signing (he's gotten the "got to take the next run after Payne Haas" glow up and that increases his price) and that's the only price point at which I'd consider him. So let's hope the musical chairs have stopped before we're forced to resort to that. He doesn't strike me as a POS guy anyway.

Jensen is also 31. Hardly lots of upside.

Bullemor is one I would have probably chipped in a little more to land. Apparently a great trainer too.

Some club will want to clear cap space & move a player on. Or someone sitting in reggies looking for an opportunity will get an early release (Trey Mooney plz). Happens every year.

Wouldn't want to be the one left holding the bag if no one good shakes loose though.

Yeah there’s always heaps of player movement that happens later in the year and during the off season. There will definitely be guys who fall out of favour at a club or want an opportunity elsewhere, and you never really know what conversations are happening behind the scenes between clubs and player managers etc.

I’ll remain cautiously optimistic that we’ll manage to fill the gaps we need, at least with players that won’t break the bank.

Despite what people might think of our former coach Nathan Brown, he hit the nail on the head when he decided to “keep the powder dry” and patiently wait for the right players to become available. That’s what lead to Pearce signing with us because we had enough $$$ to throw a good offer at him when it became apparent that he wasn’t staying at the Roosters. I think there were a few other signings like that over the Brown years, we got Klemmer in sort of similar circumstances from memory. Brown was always ready to pounce and knew that being patient would pay off.

IMO this is what we need to be doing now. It seems that POS has decided to tap a few guys on the shoulder and let them leave or not offer them contract extensions with the aim of having a bit of spare change for when the right players are available. If we miss out on a few because we’re not willing to pay overs then I can live with that, because it probably means that another club has paid overs for that player (or there abouts) and that will put a squeeze on someone else to maybe let a player or two go.

Nah if that's what Brown said he was doing, he's rewriting history. He was throwing money at everyone. Having space for Pearce was just because he struck out on a bunch of guys earlier in the year. Kieran Foran, Matt Scott, Jack Bird, James Graham, Paul Gallen, Dale Finucane, Matt Prior, Cooper Cronk. All for bigger money than anyone else had offered. Those are just the ones we know about. It was just luck that we wound up with Pearce and Klemmer instead of Foran or Bird + old Matt Scott or old Gal.

On top of the money, I'd imagine a burning desire to prove himself after the Roosters rissoled him motivated Pearce. Turning cellar dwellers who would become "his" team into contenders. Take that wound to his ego away and he probably just goes to play for a different Sydney club.

Yeah, we sure waited patiently signing Brown for $1.3 million, realistically if we had of waited patiently, we could have got Sexton for $500k and a rep prop at $800k or 2 first grade standard props at $400k each.

Instead, our already unbalanced cap is currently sitting at $2.7 million for half our spine without a first-grade standard halfback (and none coming through the grades.) and a developing 5/8th who's best position is at fullback.

For next year we have what 3 forwards who would make first grade anywhere else? Safiti, Frizzel and Lucas?

This year will be a honeymoon compared to trainwreck that 2026 is shaping up to be.
