Yeah the Safs are only 28 now so both probably should be coming into their prime as front rowers. Obviously they haven’t turned into rep stalwarts like we thought they might which is a shame.

I know we like to shit on JSaf, but he’s the only prop we have that can consistently pump out 100+ metres.

Just on that: good to see Mooney crack 130m when he’s still just adjusting to the nrl. When was the last time Leo did that? We might not have just replaced him, but gotten an upgrade.

I think at minimum you haven't lost out. Thompson was lazy and over rated. Mooney has something to prove.

Leo is massively overrated and the Dogs got taken for a ride by him and his manager. Really don't think Gus has got it right with him or Galvin tbh, but we'll see.

Nothing wrong at all with JSaf, but I feel like we need a hard-nosed leader to give us a bit more grit. I'm encouraged by what I've seen from our younger forwards, so bringing in someone with some age doesn't bother me much. A quality 2 year stint from a Barney-like figure would be great. Wouldn't hate Paulo at the right price, although I haven't seen much of him lately.

Gags and Friz experience will be a huge loss. 600 NRL games is massive.

Must have some confidence in the young fellas he's already got? That Francis Manulelua looked really impressive. I hope he kicks on.

Peteo came into a team dominating and with plenty of leaders to learn from. Unfortunately for the Safs, they came in during the worst era of probably any NRL team.

this is true but that's many years ago now, both just don't have the fire, there's the odd game here and there, but overall disappointing.

It is what it is, it's just not in their character, but I'd love to have a JWH, Burgess, Graham, JFH type leader.

After only one match this season, it’s no wonder he wants to keep going in 2027. But let’s see how he’s feeling and the body’s holding up after 15-20 more games. Would be a shame to see him finish up at another club though.

I think we will probably get a clearer picture in 6 months, given we have guys like Votano, Hunt, Wilson DeCourcey and Toby Winter who are all very young things can change a lot.
