Rumoured Targets 3

Mate, we're supposed to be the awful team. We flogged two sides away from home that are much more fancied than us. Great signs in the team. Side looks fit, depth is working, actual shape in attack.

Its the most promise the club has given us in many years.
And? I've not said I'm unhappy with any of those points mate but I wont let myself get carried away either, especially when there are still unproven areas of the team like the front row.

Anyway, enough highjacking of the Rumoured Targets thread. It wasnt my intention to do so when I highlighted yet another Ponga injury

Better to be two and O and discover whether or not our pack is actually a legitimate competitor in the middle. One thing I know is that this side is the fittest Knights team (as a collective) I have ever seen.

Yes, trials do mean little but that didnt stop this forum from going all My Chemical Romance

We look better than 2025, yes. I mean we really couldnt be any worse realistically given we got the spoon so its a low bar. As i said though, and i think its justifiable, Im concerned about our middle and think we will struggle against good packs.

Ive been a Knights fan too long to get excited by false dawns
I think the ball movement we're displaying can make up for our middles possibly against better packs. Playing smarter spreading the ball a bit wider early in sets, the middles ball-playing to each other and with second phase will give us a better chance. Without KP and Brown the flow and rhythm in attack probably won't be there as much but there seems to be an identity in our attack in the way we want to play.

Croker has been great at lock this year. Long minutes, solid defense, knows when to take the hit up vs pass it along.

I think we've got from bottom of the barrel pack (now Manly's turn) to a middle of the table pack which is a huge jump.

We'll struggle vs a pack like Brisbane or even the Storm with the way they can manipulate the middle, but we've certainly improved. Mooney is a hit. Croker is improving. If we can hit on a couple of the young guys we'll be in good shape.

Manipulate or cheat the middle? Our recruitment has never been in better shape. So I agree wholeheartedly we are few quality players from being a regular finals team with a bit of teeth to them. It is more about ensuring we keep McEwen, ESL, Manu etc. so they can get better playing together year by year.

Manipulate.
Crying "cheating" is for losers.

If they can do it, we can learn to/anyone can. Penrith are the best these days.
No excuses, play like a champion.

Good signing. With such few quality props in the comp, getting first grade standard guys from clubs with good packs who need opportunities is the way to do it. You can tell Mooney is relishing the opportunity.

If Leo Thompson can get 800k on the open market, surely Lucas wouldn’t be less than that

surely next year if they are loosing both Gagai and Frizell and at this stage only signing old mate from Warriors, surely we can afford him
