I believe the mean is about $260k, but the median (the price of the 13th highest paid player in your top 25) would be much less than this. Maybe $150k. The mode could be anything, given the number of digits in an NRL contract, but if you grouped them in ranges of +/- $5k I reckon the mode (most common contract value, or in this case, range) wouldn't be much more than minimum salary (just over $80k).
Obviously the reason for this is that the highest paid player in the top 25 is probably on at least ten times the amount of the lowest paid player. The top five paid players could take up half the cap.
I think you are correct Pou. I work with one of the coaching staff at souths and was told at the beginning of the year they were going in with 9 players on minimum wage. That is high but I reckon a number of clubs would have a similar amount on or near minimum.
