Tigers makes no sense. Cronks old and only suits a team who can win it in next 2 yrs.
Penrith have tmm, cleary and moylan no
Roosters, pearce,keary,watson
Sharks, maloney,bird,townsend
Saints hunt and prob widdop plus hutchinson and jai field
Souths possible thou cody walker and reynolds are solid they need forwards.

I see only 2 options parra or dogs. We should sit this one out.
Moses and Forans price will drop from less demand. Id be happy to snap up some young prospects like connor watson or Jai Field or some other clubs juniors.. Cronk will be 34. We have Norman and dont need a super star. These things always backfire.Let him go dogs.

If we can get Foran back for the 800k mark im happy to. Unlike Hayne he had some serious issues to deal with and skipped country. No hard feelings.

Wouldn't even suprise if was pre arranged with eels :smirk:

Sharks have Bird, Gallen and I think Lewis off contract. That is a lot of spare $$$
Saints have Widdop, Dugan off contract and they are in the game too.

But with the dogs having Reynolds, Lichaa and Hoppa off contract and in desperate need for a half they will get him.

Sharks would re sign bird and if not townsend. The smart option for them is Bird and Townsend and try to move Maloney on.
If they have 1.2 for cronk they have enough for Jack Bird.

Dogs are most desperate, Foran would suit as 5/8 but cronk would be a better fit for them with mbye or reynolds,

Id go for reynolds if no more then 500k. He wins games with tenacity and fires team up.
If wanted to move him to hooker fine otherwise he plays in halves. I reckon he would adjust to hooker as well as wallace did.

I can see them finding a way to get Cronk and Foran, move Mbye to hooker.... Surely Des hasn't been re-signed as coach for another 2 years to maintain the status quo there... There'll be a big shake up there surely...

Might be hard to fit both. Mbye is on 750k. Be a lot of money for 3 guys. And would still need a fullback. Your talking 2.8-3 mill on 3 positions

Agreed. last night I was saying I wouldn't put it past them to jag hayne and foran. Now with Cronk available what you have suggested makes sense too.

Which is prob what the Storm pay for their big 3, then include Bromwich and Harris and they prob have 5 players on close to 4million.

Dogs would have access to similar TPA's

What's the f**king obsession with moving Mbye to hooker? He is the Bulldogs' best playmaker and kicker. His only NRL appearance at hooker was filling in for Ennis in the 2014 grand final.

He is a specialist left side half with a left foot kicking game. Hasler might replace Reynolds (Lichaa will stay) but Mbye isn't going anywhere.

PARRAMATTA have pulled their multimillion-dollar contract offer for Jack Bird, with Newcastle and Cronulla the remaining clubs vying for his signature.

The Eels were prepared to pay top dollar for the NSW State of Origin utility, but on Sunday they decided to end negotiations, confident in the early-season signs shown by halves Corey Norman and Clint Gutherson.

1f3f1aefca04f66bde18b4e11243836f

There was also limited opportunity for Bird to play fullback at the Eels, a position he desires to play, with attacking dynamo Bevan French making the No.1 jersey his own.

Ultimately, the decision will come down to money for Bird, with the Knights favourites to land his signature after offering a massive three-year deal worth $900,000 a season.

The Sharks’ offer, although less at around $820,000, would still ensure Bird is the highest-paid player in the club’s history.

Like the Knights, the Sharks are open to answering Bird’s calls to move from the centres and closer to the football.

As reported previously, Sharks coach Shane Flanagan is open to moving Bird to the halves should they fail to retain off-contract halfback Chad Townsend.

Bird will also be given the chance to move to the lock position upon captain Paul Gallen’s retirement next year.

However, Bird has proven he’s serious about linking with the Knights, taking a tour of the Newcastle region and club’s facilities during a lunch meeting last Sunday.

Having missed out on Matt Scott, Dale Finucane and Matt Prior in recent weeks, the Knights know Bird’s signature is pivotal to the club’s power to recruit further stars.

However, the Knights are also aware the 22-year-old shares a unique bond with the Cronulla team after winning last year’s premiership and will find it difficult to move to his third club in five years, after leaving St George Illawarra in 2014.

If Des can get Ralene and Co to sign Cronk and Foran then Mbye won't be in the halves no matter how good a playmaker you think he is.... They may yet try and offload him if they can get someone to pick up the freight....

Like I said before, Des must have sold the Dogs board a fairly convincing spiel about how he plans to rejuvenate their fortunes. I expect at least 1 marquee signing if not 2...

Or Cleary was already signed with the Tigers and there is no coaches without job better than Des.

If he is already on contract they won't be shelling out huge coin for both Foran and Cronk. It would be madness. Mbye is on contract and good enough. He also fills two key roles - left side half and goalkicker. They only need to replace Reynolds.

They only need one for a massive shakeup, not going to fairyland by spending a third of their cap on two new players.

Foran will end up the highest paid half somewhere, probably Melbourne, Canterbury or the Tigers. Cronk will also end up the highest paid half somewhere. No club would be stupid enough to sign both of them.
