Forgotten men in Moses deal prove worth
MITCHELL Moses was on the losing side of the ledger against the Eels and it was two men who may have to switch positions to accommodate him that did the damage.
Clinton Gutherson and Brad Takairangi were superb for Parramatta as the Eels came back from a 12-point deficit to overrun the Wests Tigers 26-22.
While James Tedesco was showing what a million dollar player really looks like with a sensational performance, Gutherson and particularly Takairangi were integral in turning the tide for the Eels.
With the Tigers in command at 22-12 up and hammering Parramatta's defensive line in the 59th minute, the Eels fill in five-eighth Takairangi showed all his skills to put on a momentum-swinging try for Kirosome Auva'a.
After soaking up the pressure in three straight sets on their own line, an evasive run from Michael Jennings broke the shackles, with the star centre weaving his way up and across the field, before a chain of passes ended in the hands of Takairangi.
The utility better known for his offloading then stepped off his right foot to create some space on the outside before stabbing through an angled kick for Auva'a to win the race.
It was the moment that turned the match on its head and 10 minutes later the Eels had the lead, with Takairangi again involved, this time passing for Corey Norman, whose cut out pass created an overlap for Auva'a to put Josh Hoffman away.
