Do you live in an alternate reality? We can't afford both and Hayne won't come here when Union can throw the dollars at him. So much for the NRL war chest, politics at their finest. Hayne is worth a lot more than Cronk now that he is pushing up his asking price, third parties aside Cronk is on just over 600k and is apparently having problems with his deal at the Storm (probably third parties?) which are obviously still yet to be ironed out. If both Foran and Norman go I don't see why we can't afford both Hayne and Cronk, but if we only have one to pick Cronk is going to be cheaper and at least you have money left over to bring in or retain a halves partner.

If we don't have Foran, Norman or Hayne next year this is the only competitive option.

It's not what he's worth now, it's what he is likely to be worth over the duration of the next contract.

Given Cronk's age, he is likely to come a fair bit cheaper than a player still in his prime. Especially on a multi-year deal.

Cronk's kicking game is so good you could partner him with Gutherson as well. There wouldn't be a need to bring another half into the top 17.

I agree he's over-rated but he's still the incumbent nsw hooker so not a complete nuffie. He also has a kicking game which would take pressure off our halves.

I'll also concede he's old but we are also considering offering De Gois a 2 year contract so I'm not sure age is that much of a concern for BA.

As for being a cancer, I think that's largely due to his significant influence at the Tigers. He has played all his footy there and they have a very young side that lacks leadership. If he were to join the eels I can't see him being able to exert as much influence, coming to a new club with experienced leaders such as Scott, Wicks, Gower, Mannah. I also can't see players like Mau and Edwards taking his crap.

With the Tigers forking out plenty of his salary for 2017, I'd offer a two year deal, with the 2nd year amount considerably less commensurate with his likely drop in performance due to age.

At one point, Brett Finch was NSW's incumbent 5/8, so...

He's a good player, but old, injury-prone, over-rated, selfish a dick.

It's only half of Hayne's asking price and you aren't even getting more than what you did in your last contracts? I'll give you a clause: if I leave, you can. Either way the season would be f**ked so you have my guarantee. That's cool? Ok mate, see you in 2017. We now have a hope of making the eight and hopefully the four. You would be revered as the halfback that finally had the class to step up to the plate for Parramatta for centuries to come. The younger generation today will be telling their children of the halfback that finally had the whole package both on and off the field. For proven class is what this team needs.
