If we have money to spend, I think Cronk would be a great short term option. He would be very expensive on a one year deal though.

There's a real possibility that we could have one of the most inexperienced spines in the comp next year...

Haynes leaning towards rugby
Normie is every chance of signing with saints if he hasn't already done so
Foz is gone
Flash is gone and
IDG may struggle to past Kaysa at full strength

I hope you merkins aren't expecting to make the 8 next year if that happens?

That's what I can't understand - several people reckon we are looking good for next year, but I just don't see it.

looks like we are stuck in between a rock and a hard place. I'm sure are aren't just rolling over and giving Foran his release. While we are waiting for the saga to unfold, we are probably waiting to see what the plane intends on doing. And God only knows what Corey is thinking at this point in time. Hopefully one out of those three pulls thru.

I would hope for longer, but if Hayne is a no-go and that is our only option then that is what must be done. Cronk for one year and he can finish at his beloved Storm. Everyone wins.

Really?

Our pack, which has shown it can lock horns with pretty much any team, will get a genuine impact weapon in Vave.

Our backline, already one of the most exciting and talented in the NRL, will consolidate as Gutherson and French continue to improve.

I am of the inclination that Norman will stay so even if Jarryd doesn't come home (I think he is a very good chance to do so. Edit - Good chance to come home that is), our spine will be at least of the same level that has seen us seriously compete these last two months.

Above all, Brad Arthur is still our coach. I don't think anything else needs to be said here.

I am not telling you to throw a stack of cash on us to win it all next year but I think there is cause for legitimate optimism.

Those people also thought the board were doing a great job and Daniel Anderson was a great choice as head of football...........

I'm definitely a glass half empty person. With no Norman, no Foran, no Hayne, maybe no Semi in 2017, we will be set back another 3-5 years IMO.

I don't see why Norman would move to the Dragons over us, unless there is a big increase in salary.

Their squad is much weaker than ours, their coach has nothing on BA, if anything they are in decline, something that despite the year we've had, we are not

At one point, Brett Finch was NSW's incumbent 5/8, so...

He's a good player, but old, injury-prone, over-rated, selfish a dick.

1. You agree he's a good player
2. He's younger than Cam Smith
3. He's averaged 18 games over the past three seasons (and missed games through origin)
4. I'd argue he's only over-rated compared to his salary
5. I agree he's selfish in the current tigers setup although could be different here
6. Probably...but I think he'd tone it down a bit at a new club.

Agree to disagree.

If Norman doesn't re-sign and Hayne decides against returning him, we will have around $2million to spend if not more.

Replacing Gordon is easy, Gutherson / French goes back there. And with $2 million we will won't have many problems getting some halves (plus some other players)

Gee most sides have a lot less then that to spend on their halves.

As long as the halves can tackle, BA has shown he can put a structure in place to get us scoring points.

No point having the money if there are no players worth spending it on
There is plenty of back up depth to spend our cap on, look how awesome that turned out for us in the Kearney years???? Just as long as we don't spend our money on a superstar we need to spread our cap and share the mediocrity.........
