Rumours and Stuff

Well that’d sure fund his retirement. He’s 31 and best seasons behind him. At best you’re signing him to mentor the bloke doing the actual leading.
I agree with Talking Parra guy and take the captain off Moses. He’s the game play leader who’ll yell at them enough during the run. We need a separate guy abusing the f**k out of them when they aren’t listening to Moses. That’s a hard find externally. Maybe Yeo could do it but to garner the respect needed, the player also needs to putting in and that’s a ticking clock with Yeo. Tino would’ve been ideal. Looking back Keaon may have been at that point (we should’ve have gone harder).
What’s concerning for me is probably our current best available is Dylan Walker and then you’ll hate it but Guymer would be next, which shows it’s truly dire. We just don’t have the hard edged player, who’s also rugba leeg smart.
Yeah, Dylan Walker should be captain.
He has the smarts. I think Moses is too emotional and arrogant.

Yeah I’m not sure I’m with him there. Maybe I’m wrong. But really I’d just have him for the sales pitch
So you give the bloke a job working with our junior backline talent through pathways, whilst using him in a recruitment/sponsors role at the same time - makes sense, but that ship has now sailed

I don't think Moses is arrogant, he's self-assured and confident which is what he should be as an elite player in the game.

Walker shouldn't even be starting the game, and doesn't play more than 40mins - he isn't a captain option.

Lets be honest, the only players currently in our squad capable of being captains are Moses, Junior, Hopgood and Williams

Junior isn't on the field long enough, Hopgood is gone for the season. That leaves you Moses and Williams. Williams appears to be more of a "follow me" leader rather than vocal leader - probably similar to what we had with Cayless - and that doesn't work when you have a team full of rookies who need constant direction and communication. Whilst Moses gets flustered and probably overdoes it sometimes - he is the best communicator in the club - so he needs to be the captain until we recruit or develop a better option

I’m not sold on Hayne being a coach
I'm not advocating for him to be a fulltime coach, im talking about about more of an advisory/workshop role with outside backs. He's not there every day, or potentially every week even, but comes in and lends a hand when the actual coaches think some value needs to be added.

should have sterlo is a consultative role with the club, one of the brightest brains when it comes to analyzing the game we have seen.

on the hayne thing, you notice the wests tigers have no issues attracting Polynesian talent to their club atm. hayne and say fui could do wonders with our junior recruitment.
I know people love to fantasise about the Great Sterlo being the face of our club, but from what I’ve seen over the years is Sterlos only interested in using his links to the club to endorse his own brand. And hey, more power to him, he’s been smart enough not to anchor his brand to the anus of the NRL in any official capacity. Just like the clubs marketing team have had to do all these years , Sterlos leveraged the 80s era to build his brand. Why ruin it like Mortmier did by getting involved with the current turdfest .

Sterlos has ample opportunity to get involved over the years , but he’s far too smart for that. He can make a far better living staying an Eels legend and dissecting them from afar .

the panthers have collected people involved in the Smith era of the Eels.

its time for us to bring some of these guys back to parra

Ryles talks about parra people all the time, whos a parra person? BS, Matt cameron, Daniel anderson, sterlo, im sure there are plenty more.
When I think of Parra people I think of successful Eels legends like Mark O’Neil, Jim Sarantinos, Jason Ryles, Nathan Brown and Sam Moa.

so the team has offered him a role in the past? cause it would be the first ive heard of it.

sterlo is retired from media commitments, i would have no idea what he or his 'brand' is doing right now

I’m quite sure he’s currently a paid ambassador for the club as we speak . He certainly was last year as he was in our suite as a “ guest “ . So yeah, as soon as he retired from his media stuff he was welcomed to the club , just as he always was but never officially took them up on it.
A quick Google and I’m sure you’ll find a few quotes from him saying as much.

Sorry to kill the fantasy .

6 games into the season and calling for Moses head as captain is crazy.
It's a good opportunity for him to lead a side out of a rut .. especially while he is out of form. He has the opportunity to become a better leader over the next month and lets hope he takes it. Instead of idiots on socials and Pelicans like Dean Ritchie creating little fires about Mitch being unhappy he needs to take ownership of his role in our poor start to the season and do what he can to get things going. Let's see how he goes before piling on.

Back on Hayne

Last time i was in there they still don't even have a photo of Hayne in the leagues club which is a downright disgrace.

The clowns running the show have cancelled him out of history basically and won't offer him life membership.

I get things ended badly but i think its time to move on and at least recognize the contribution he made to this club.

Its certainly more then most players/administrators have done in the last 40 years.

It’s just more stupid management at the club.

the cost of legal council will be 10x the fine value

the NRL incurs large costs by having to bring in everyone for the hearing - his is the only case on the agenda.

We’re on a campaign to piss off the nrl this year
